Peckers is a lightweight idle game where a pigeon mines resources on your screen while you handle other tasks. You craft gear for adventurers, send them on expeditions to gather better materials, and gradually upgrade your operation—all designed to run quietly in the background without demanding your attention. It's a gentle clicker with D&D-inspired aesthetics that rewards experimentation over commitment.

So I'm scrolling down the New Releases (as one casually does) and I notice this weird looking pidgeon and the name Peckers. It's cheap so I click to check it out. It turns out to be an idler where a pidgeon mines on your screen and you use the materials found to craft gear for your dudes to go on expedition and get better materials and cash for your upgrades.
Ok, a bit lost at first but quickly understood what was going on (I was crafting 1 piece of gear at a time when I had to craft as many as needed in 1 "turn") but then noticed a bug and decided to contact the developer.
I swear to god within the hour they had reproduced and fixed the issue and I can tell a developer that is that committed with their game and shows as much love as Humblebright does deserve all your support. It's cute, it's easy to get into and progression is nice. A different, more RPG-adjacent type of idler but remains casual and unintrusive unlike other games that need lots of micromanagement before getting going.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Peckers and wish Humblebright all the best in this and future projects. If you're on the fence, hop in! The pidgeons yearn for the mines.
A very cute little game, surprisingly fun for how simple it is! The art style and clear dnd inspiration make for a good hook. :D
The UI is very intuitive, although I will admit it took me sending 5 adventurers to their deaths before realising that those numbers were actually stat requirements for success! ToT
I also didn't realise that there were multiple sections of the shop until the button flashed as I went over it with my mouse, I thought they were just there to look at, but maybe that's just me :P
I really like the gear part of the game, it's surprisingly in-depth, having to puzzle out how to *just about* meet the adventurer's requirements while spending as few resources as possible. You definitely *don't* have to play it like that, and just slap the strongest stuff on there, but very early on in the game you don't have as many resources to play around with. Plus deciding which pieces of equipment to upgrade vs unlocking new ones to meet the required stats, there's a good bit of strategy involved!
One gripe that I have is that early on, gold is a little bit hard to get, coming only from adventurers, missions, or random encounters. Sometimes, when I find myself met with an adventurer with especially high requirements, I don't have the gold to unlock or upgrade my equipment. Sure I could just send them off with nothing but some tater toes to their name, but I feel bad killing the little guys :( . Maybe add gold as a mine-able resource? Not a lot, maybe 5 or 10 per node to start with, but the amount of gold would increase as you progress through the biomes.
Overall, a very cute, addicting little game about a pigeon with a ren-fest vibe! Let's just hope that he brought enough underwear with him...
