Idle Protocol strips tower defense down to its essence: defend a CPU core using just two equipped nodes while geometric threats advance toward you. Between active sessions, accumulate Cycles through offline progression, then spend them on permanent BIOS upgrades that reshape your defensive capabilities. The minimalist approach and prestige-like reboot mechanic will appeal to players who want strategic depth without complexity bloat.

Idle & Incremental Lovers doesn't recomment Idle Protocol :
Click click wait, click click wait... zzzzz... Oh, time to prestige... Click click wait... Rinse and repeat, with always the same weapon upgrade. Oh, and pixel art looks like it was made in MS Paint.
+ Three different layers of progression (1 in-run, 2 permanent)
+ You can gain money when the game is closed.
+ There is a definite end, and a real endgame with modifiers.
- One of the main problems is that you constantly have to babysit the game, since the money gains are exponential and you really have to click on the same "improve weapon" button every few minutes.
- For the same reason, gaining money offline only leads to small progress.
- You have 5 weapon types and you can choose 2 of them for your run. It doesn't favor experimentation at all: since your prestige points are precious, you wanna focus on one weapon.
- Even if you can have 2 weapons, you just wanna improve one during a run since the other one is so weak.
- The quarantine (endgame) mechanic with modifiers is just as boring as the rest of the game, sadly.
- Pixel "art" is not art, it looks really amateur.

Saved the game, exited the game. Opened the game the next day, my save file is gone.

other than that I didn't have much fun at all with that game.

HOTFIX: Offline Save Reset Issue Resolved

Hello everyone,First of all, I want to deeply thank the community for your feedback and for quickly reporting a critical issue regarding saves resetting when playing the game offline. What was fixed: We identified a bug where launching the game without an active internet connection caused a communication failure with Steam Cloud. Instead of loading your local save, the system mistakenly overwrote it with blank data from the failed cloud sync.I have just deployed a hotfix with a strict failsafe. From now on, if the game detects an offline status or an unstable cloud connection, it will completely bypass Steam and safely load your local hard drive save. Playing offline is now 100% safe.Regarding lost progress: I need to be completely transparent with you: because the bug physically overwrote the local save files on your hard drive, the previous data is permanently gone. Unfortunately, it is technically impossible to restore the lost progress. As a developer (and a player), I know exactly how frustrating it is to lose progress in an incremental game, and it hurts me to deliver this news. I sincerely apologize to everyone affected by this bug. Your support means everything to me, and my priority right now is ensuring the game's foundation is rock-solid so this never happens again.Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for helping me make the game better for everyone.
