A new effect: FireworksFireworks now go up here and there from the floor of the tank — the first of a new kind of content called "Effects." There is nothing to place. Enjoy a view of the water that only AquaDesk can give you.New fish: the PlatyA plump, rounded body in vermilion red. Very peaceful, unfussy about the water and hardy — the classic first fish. It swims briskly through the middle of the tank, and instead of forming a shoal the fish spread out as they please. It is a livebearer: rather than laying eggs, it gives birth to fry that swim from the moment they arrive. The mother's belly slowly rounds out, and when the rear of it darkens, birth is near. The fry swim out from the back of her belly just as they are.Cross them and patterns such as Three Spot and Tiger appear — go and find them. The ones on sale in the shop are plain red platies, but just like every other tropical fish they carry the factors for patterns and colors. Pair them up and see what the next generation brings. The water and the fish behind it show through the glass, and it is a lovely thing to watch. Note: unlock it from the SP Shop.Better swimmingThis time the work went into how a fish changes direction.The "head shake" — where the body alone turned toward the back or the front on every change of direction and snapped straight back — is gone. Music LibraryA new ≡ button next to the BGM buttons on the palette opens the track list. Switch whole albums or single tracks on and off, so anything that doesn't fit the mood stays out. Add your own music files (mp3 / m4a / aac / wav) — one track at a time or a whole folder — and play them as the aquarium's BGM. Tracks are not copied: the app simply points to where they already are on your computer, so no extra disk space is used. Press ▶ in the list to preview while you choose. If you have unlocked the "BGM Player" skill, it is ready to use. Note: the demo cannot add tracks (the list and the on/off switches still work).New fish: the Glass CatfishA curious catfish with a body as clear as glass — you can see right through to its spine. They hover in a shoal, all facing the same way, while the long anal fin ripples like the surface of water. Very timid, they settle into the shade of a plant as their own spot and spend their time there together. In real life this fish has almost never been bred in captivity — but in this tank, you can try. Note: unlock it from the SP Shop.A new object: the Napoleon StatueNapoleon Statue — a general driving his horse up the rocks, an advance with no sign of stopping, caught in bronze. Water shows through between the horse's legs and the loop of the reins, and fish swim past behind it. Note: unlock it from the SP Shop.BGM in Mini tank mode, tooThe BGM buttons in Mini tank mode are now bigger, so they are easy to press even on a small tank. The title of the track now playing drifts slowly across the top of the BGM buttons.

Mini tank modeThe whole tank now shrinks down and sits in a corner of your desktop. Only the size changes. Feeding, breeding and everything else carry on exactly as before, so it can quietly keep your desktop company all day. New fish: the Black Phantom TetraA smoky body marked with a single black diamond. Males carry big black dorsal and anal fins; females are rounder, with a soft red tint to their fins. Few fish show the difference between the sexes this clearly — do take a look. Note: unlock it from the SP Shop. A new object: SaturnSaturn — Saturn resting on the sand, rings tilted. Water shows through the gaps, and fish slip between them. Note: unlock it from the SP Shop. Shadows on the sandFish now cast shadows onto the sand. A fish swimming high leaves a faint, spread-out smudge, while a corydoras walking the bottom gets a crisp one right beneath it. It makes the tank read as a space with fish floating inside it. Visible whenever you have sand laid down.Toward even more lifelike swimmingTimid fish settle into the shade of a plant and treat it as their own spot, and on most fish the fins now flex with the swimming. Neon tetras and rummy-nose tetras now gather facing the same way and hang there together — a proper shoal.
