Ever dreamed of forming a rock band and being worldwide famous?

At first glance, this game reminded me so much of a roleplaying game called “Popmundo” which is a web based game in which you have to develop a music career to make your living, improve your skills and form a succesful band or an artist persona. In this game, similarly your goal is to develop your career by writing songs, recording them, giving concerts and so on. However in this game you have the control of a whole band and by micromanaging each member you strive to make them reach to the ultimate goal of their lives.

When you start the game you get to choose in which genre you want to specialize. There are four genres consisting of pop, rock, hiphop and electro. This choice affects the overall skills of your members. Later on, the game gives you the ability to name your band and the vocalist of this band. So that you can feel a bit more attached to your band. From here on out, you can write a song and start your career. To write a song, you choose a theme first and then you’re able adjust special effects and instruments used taking song’s theme into account. All affect the quality of the song and the time it takes to write. This impacts the overall quality of the song as well. For instance, let’s say you’re writing a song that has a sad theme, the game prompts you to use guitar solo since it’s more convenient for this theme.

Every song takes time to write. With each song, the members of your band gain XP and they improve their skills. Also, there’s a way you can upgrade each member’s equipment with the money you’ve earned and the best way to earn money is to give concerts. In order to give a concert, you have to pick a place that will accept your band, depending on your fame. You can choose which songs you want to play in your concert. Don’t forget though, quality of your songs affect your concert performance and if it’s successful you’re able to sell more tickets and make more profit and gain new fans.

Besides giving concerts, you’re able to record the songs you’ve written. You get to choose which studio you can work with, again it depends on your fame and more quality studios won’t work with you at first. Recording might increase or decrease your songs final quality so it won’t stay same as before. Later on in the game you’re able to record and sell albums. Another way to make money is to do side-jobs. These usually take time and has a risk value. The more risk of failing it has the more profit you can make. Doing these take time as well, like any other thing in this game. There are works available not only to make money but also improve your skills. For instance you can “Practice Guitar Hero” and improve your stats or you can go “Hang Posters” and earn money. As you earn more and more money you can hire managers, that manages your public relations which affects a variety of things. Besides buying equipments, paying for fees etc, you can invest your money in loot boxes from which you can pick an item to use on your characters to improve them. It’s definitely well-balanced though, since they’re not overpowered and you’re forced to choose them wisely since there are limited slots you can use.

I like the general way of things look in terms of user-interface, even though texts saying “tap to continue” and big buttons make it look like a mobile game. Not to mention that this game is very lightweight and it’ll probably work on a potato.

Overally, It’s fun being able to have a complete control of things and this game is going to make you feel accomplished for your success. As you develop, you’re going to feel that you’re turning into a giant and you are going to want to compare yourself to real world singers and bands in the “Charts” section, which is an immersive and a fun detail. Taking its low price into account, it’s definitely worth buying. If you are a fan of the management genre, you’re going to be immersed and addicted.

I really wanted something like this, so I'm a little biased I guess. It's fun tho.

stuff i liked
- Progression is nicely paced. May be a bit fast paced for some.
- Doesn't go too in depth. I can just zone out and listen to podcasts.
- I like that they just use real artist's names and it's not all cringey spoof names.
- Little dialogue bubbles every now and then between characters. It's never funny, but I get a kick out of it somehow.

didn't like
- The game sound gets old pretty fast. (you can turn it off)
- No character customization (besides your name). You choose 1 of 4 well endowed women who are themed to the genre you pick. No option to change clothes or hair or anything. They also pre-select your bandmates for you and it doesn't look like you can fire any of them. No going solo or anything. Devs, please keep working on this aspect!
- I can and will overlook the aesthetic in most areas of this game, but my drummer and DJ are really creeping me out.
- Kinda cheap-feeling.

Overall, 6 bucks ain't too bad for what ya get. If you like music and simulators, give it a shot.
