This game has a lot of potential, but I think that ultimately it is squandered by questionable design choices. This genre of game is getting more and more saturated, and 'Idle Expanse' doesn't really stand out from the contenders in my opinion. Since it's free you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot, but I personally don't recommend it.
Pros:- Interesting theme and design
- Mini-games are interesting
- Auto-deployment was a nice touch
Cons:- Boring upgrade system that consists of +1 to total item slots, ad infinitum
- Too much clicking for an idler game (ex: rabbits on launch screen, exp orbs, etc)
- Not really a fan of DLC that equates to significant boosts in-game. The grind is balanced around incentivizing people to purchase said DLC.
- Items/Armor consist of very generic +1 to dmg, +X to health
- Missions have the same 'generic' issue as seen in the items & upgrade system
- Game started to lose my attention at only around an hour in, after I was hyped for an interesting Idler game in a unique theme
If there are some changes to the fundamentals of the game I may update this review.
