I'm pretty sure that people will mostly buy this game, if they are into idle games, so I will skip an explanation about what type of game this is. I'll rather talk about what sets it apart from your typical idle games.
You start your very first run with just 1 ship. Ships will determine your progression in this game, so what that means is that your ships will fight through different stages and continue onwards, thus reaching higher levels. The farther you get, the harder the game becomes, which is mostly selfexplanatory. Reaching certain levels will give you access to new buildings, which will boost certain stats, like resource gain or the power of your ships. While fighting the enemy ships, they will drop temporary items, which lasts until you rebirth. Those items will boost different stats of your ships, like giving a chance for double shot, knockback, health regen... you get the idea. You constantly upgrade your resource gain by increasing the corresponding building for that. It is also possible to further upgrade your ships with insight. With insight, you can upgrade the range of your ships, their shields, health etc. So now you start idling for a while...
A little bit later after reaching a certain level, you unlock science. Science is yet another way to increase your resource gain and some other perks, but not for your ships. All upgrades I named so far, are only temporary boosts. Only after beating stage 10 will you unlock the rebirth/prestige option. Here comes the part, that sets this game apart from other idle games I know. You start your very first run with the citizen class. What does that mean? I'll explain. All of the prestige points you have earned in that run, will go towards your citizen class. The citizen class lets you buy permanent upgrades and also new classes. You start the game with 3 classes unlocked. Citizen, Merchant and Guardian. Though only the citizen class does unlock new classes (at least thats what I think, judging by the description). In order to get the highest amount of benefits from prestiging, you want to chance classes from time to time. Each class has different permanent upgrades.
Citizen: A mix of resource and combat upgrade.
Merchant: Mostly economic upgrades.
Guardian: Ship upgrades.
After rebirthing, you get to choose a new class you want to play. Your starting class will give you starting bonuses and fixed stats. Citizen starts with no bonuses and therefore also with no penalties. The merchant starts with stats, that will HIGHLY boost his economy, for example 50% more gold gain. The guardian is the way to go, if you want to build up a strong army. He has many buffs for his ships, but will only gain more gold per second, after you have beaten a stage.
My final verdict: The game starts slow and by that I mean REALLY slow. Idle Armada isnt your typical idle game, where you rebirth after 30-60 minutes on your first run. Took me hours to reach my first rebirth. Other than the slow start, this is a great idle game. I'm liking it so far and really recommend it to all lovers of idle games.
