Tawako is a brick-breaker game where you guide the titular hedgehog through a forest by bouncing a ball to destroy blocks and collect fruit across roughly ten levels. The game features simple power-ups like speed modifiers and a scoring system that grants extra lives, paired with wholesome pixel art and music. It's best suited for players seeking a brief, relaxing puzzle experience rather than substantial content depth.

Definitely a peaceful Arkanoid-like game with a few '🧱-challenges' here and there, so nicely balanced for my brain cells! Ignoring the minor, a few more important things I'd like to mention: - After 20 minutes I had to pause/stop playing, and thought I could resume/continue, but nope ... - There are 9 levels + 1 secret level only, and even though I won't refund and think it's a fair amount of content for 50% of the base price, I also think it would be fair to mention the amount of levels on the Store page ✌
This looks, sounds and plays like (and probably is) someone's early attempts with Unity. There isn't very much to do - I think it's about 10 levels, a scoreboard and some simple powerups and collectibles.
That said, the game is feature-complete and of decent quality for what it is. The titular hedgehog is cute and the art and music is wholesome. If you like hedgehogs and have a dollar to spare, this is a good place to spend it and support what I imagine is an aspiring developer :)
(If there was a neutral option to rate this game I would)
So, I know I haven't played this for very long BUT:
I was looking for a cute brick breaking game and that's pretty much what this is!
The graphics are REALLY CUTE! (As in, that's what sold me on this game!)
The game are simple, there is a speed-up and slow-down power-ups, you gain extra lives by getting a certain amount of points, and you have to catch the fruit and nuts as they're falling to gain any points. (which is mildly annoying but also kind of adds charm to the game so I'm kind of undecided?)
The game is a little buggy (I've had it get confused and kind of.... Lock? the ball a couple times because it was unsure if i caught it or if it was falling past Tawako... So it kind of got caught in limbo and wouldn't fall but could NOT be hit either... The solution was to restart, which if you're on a roll in annoying.) And a 3, 2, 1, countdown before the level starts instead of just throwing you in would be wonderful (I lose lives almost immediately pretty often because I expect some form of warning before the ball just GOES FOR IT. Although.... while playing it is something you can get used to so it's kind of a personal gripe)
That being said, I've been looking for a brick breaking game that looks cute and is simple to play and this DEFINITELY fits that criteria, so I'm going to keep playing this when I'm in the mood for something simple or a brick breaking game. This is by no means bad, but it could do with a liiittle bit of improvement. Though I do feel like I got what I paid for and what I was looking for, so that's a plus!
Overall, if you're looking for something cute and simple to play I'd recommend this! It happened to be what I was looking for so I bought it without really thinking. It's also a pretty cheap game... So basically if you're looking for something adorable and simple this is perfect!
Hi everyone! Patch 1.3 has been released and it includes the following changes: Added Japanese language You can switch languages from the main menu. There are two language buttons under the menu. Resolution fixes The game should now work properly with the most popular resolutions. UI fixes Several small bugs were fixed. Physics changes Yes, this game uses a physics engine. A tiny change was applied so even if it is unnoticeable during playing the movement might be slightly smoother now. --- And there are a couple of more notices. The game has "high score" mechanics but this feature runs 100% on your device. So unfortunately you cannot compare your results with other players in the world but you can still compete with your family :) Game update might lead to resetting of your settings and high scores. We are sorry for the inconvenience. --- We hope you find the new version more easy to play!
We apologize for keeping you waiting for so long! There are a couple of features in development right now: 1. Japanese language will be added 2. UI will be fixed so it should work (we hope) with the most of standard resolutions. 3. Soundtrack will be released soon as a separate product. Patch 1.3 is planned to be released in a few weeks. We are also working on another bigger project and we hope we can release it this year.
After a long break I release this new update! It includes new content and some fixes: 6 new levels 2 new background images Scores were adjusted considering adding new levels Some blocks were fixed to avoid ball stuck
