Lead a civilization from ancient times through the modern age in this incremental game centered on territorial expansion, technological advancement, and wonder-building. Manage resources across a deep tech tree while trading with other players, though expect a grinding progression that demands considerable active engagement despite the idle framing.

About this game

What players are saying

This game aims to be exactly what it advertises as, an idle civilization game, and a lot of it is good. But, I don't recommend at this point.

Another reviewer mentioned, 48 hours is required for functionality to be fully unlocked, but what that reviewer didn't mention, is that is 48 hours of active time, and I strongly disagree with this. Why make an idle game and only give credit for active time? To me, this is an anti-fun mechanic and it diminishes my trust that this game will develop in a good direction.

Things in game are largely tied colony value, and trade is a major emphasis of the game.

The end of the economic tech tree is Cryptocurrency, which feels a gross.

There is no good feeling of progression as you either unlock a million buildings at once at the beginning, or (from what I can tell) have very slow progress later on. You place buildings and wonders (which take hours to build), but it's hard to get a good grasp on how different buildings affect your overall stats, such as happiness, and what you should do next to aid your empire. It does not give that satisfying dopamine hit that other idlers have and I wanted to just play another one after an hour.

With a more streamlined feeling of progression, a better UI that I do not need to customize for hours to be useful and more useful user feedback, this may have been an interesting idler, but I would avoid it for now

Not a bad idea in principle, but it feels too "floaty". The UI is terrible: it's hard to see which building affects which and the windows-inspired look is really not a good fit for this game. There is no overview for all your resources, you have to go to every building to see their stockpile (unless a technology unlocks that later, but that should be a basic function).

Patch 1.3: Dutch and Midsummer

Hello CivIdlers! I am happy to present to you Patch 1.3. This content patch is rather unique: it was not planned, as I am busy working on my upcoming game Restitutor (more on that later). However, while working on Restitutor, there were certain ideas that didn’t quite work out. Instead of discarding them, I spent some time going through those ideas, picked the ones that would work for CivIdle, and ported them over. So while this patch doesn’t add a lot of content, the content it adds brings very unique gameplay features. New Civilization: Dutch Unique Buildings Mauritshuis (Capitalism) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43106564/6b598e9aef4b85248b43668915ba10e59018ad7f.png For each level of Mauritshuis, a painting by a Dutch painter is discovered (30 paintings in total). Patch 1.2: Carthaginian

After taking a two-month break from CivIdle, I am happy to announce that I am back with another content patch! Patch 1.2 has a new civilization, as well as a bunch of QoL updates. And I will also briefly talk about what I've been working on during the break. New Civ: Carthaginian {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43106564/20037a0c096a84a0f91450c15f5d255d270a581c.png CivIdle’s tech tree spans from the Stone Age all the way to the Information Age. This creates a challenge when adding new civilizations: very few cultures existed across that entire timeline. As a result, balancing late‑game progression becomes difficult for civilizations that historically didn’t reach the later eras. To address this design challenge, I’m introducing a new system called Civilization Ideas. It’s inspired by a mechanic I’ve been developing for my upcoming game Restitutor (more on that later). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43106564/8cea96688045f987259382e6c72a2a8184982e74.png Carthage’s unique bonuses now come from its exclusive Civilization Idea Tree, unlocked through its unique wonder, the Cothon of Carthage. Each level of this wonder grants 1 Idea Point, which can be spent to unlock new ideas. These ideas are designed to enhance different aspects of gameplay all the way through the Information Age. This new system allows me to add more ancient civilizations to the game while giving each a distinct identity without creating late‑game balance issues. Cothon of Carthage (Wonder) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43106564/fef1520014cadff5f9e13a85b168a7d706769029.png Unlock Carthaginian civilization ideas Atlas Mountains (Natural Wonder) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/43106564/c74359925b565f7f801f30425394abd6b07f45bd.png All buildings within 2 tile range get +X Production Multiplier.
