100 Hidden Frogs 2 tasks you with locating 100 frogs hidden across a rotatable 3D medieval environment, with additional frogs locked inside chests that require finding specific items to unlock. The game attempts to modernize the hidden object genre through full 360-degree level rotation and colorful three-dimensional graphics, though execution issues with model clarity and performance optimization may frustrate players depending on their system specs.

personally, out of all games within hidden object/point-and-click genre, 100 hidden frogs 2 offers the most unique gameplay mechanics such as:
  • rotating the "platform" to find all frogs;
  • finding hidden frogs inside three chests by finding all required items to acquire all keys;
  • decent coloring; and
  • using 3D graphics.

unfortunately, such uniquenesses have to be paid with poor game optimization, hence resulting in really sluggish performance. if the developer cares to fix the mess, i think this will definitely be a solid game.

hence, my thoughts about this game are mixed.

Yes, I get it, they wanted to give the established 100 hidden objects genre a kiss of life by packing it in a new 3D outfit but the final result doesn't quite achieve the desired effect here.

The low poly models are so poorly made that it's sometimes really difficult to distinguish between individual objects, resulting in a rather unorganized and cluttered jumble. In addition, a lack of smooth transitions between areas of different brightness, animated loops such as showers of confetti or lighting effects flashing out all over the place are incredibly annoying, leading only to unnecessary confusion and making it difficult to find specific objects.

All in all, a good idea but poorly implemented. Sticking with the classic black and white drawings would have been a much better choice here.

Looks so great, but ran horribly on my computer. Got an antivirus warning message where it apparently rejected part of the software needed to run the game; tried to accept it but I guess it didn't take. Extremely laggy gameplay, couldn't rotate the tower at all and even after lowering the game settings per a forum post, didn't get any better. Also made my CPU get really hot in just a few minutes of playing. Had to ask for a refund. Sorry devs.

I did find about 40 of the 100 frogs in the scene before shutting the game down to prevent burning up my computer, so it looks like you could finish the game in less than 10 minutes. Would suggest buying only if it's on sale if you want to give it a chance. Pity I couldn't get any further as it's such a colorful HOG and unique with the 3D mechanic.
