Idle Tower Defense tasks you with building and upgrading modular weapon systems on a single tower to survive deterministic enemy waves. The game emphasizes mechanical customization over randomness, though progression significantly slows beyond wave 100 and the prestige system doesn't unlock until wave 50 with minimal explanation. It appeals to players seeking a low-maintenance tower defense experience, though current balance issues and vague late-game goals may frustrate those seeking extended engagement.

It's a fun idea, but it feels like the game hasn't really left early access, progression basically stops after wave 100, with all of the wave 200+ ascension options being cartoonishly bad, and little to no indication that there is any progression after that, despite the achievements implying that there should be content up to wave 500 at least.

The game is also very poorly balanced, there is basically a single way to play once you get to a certain point in the game, with all of the other weapons and abilities you can equip being completely unable to handle the ramp in enemy damage.

Let me start off my saying that after 19 hours, I've unlocked everything. I'm currently at Wave 306 or something. The only achievements left are ascend 100 times, die 10k times, and reach wave 400, and wave 500.

Basically, for all intents and purposes, I've reached the end-game. It's completely not worth it, imo. The ascend stuff that is available to you when you reach wave 200 is super underwhelming. It's borderline useless.

The entire game is basically just waiting for numbers to go up (very very very very slowly). You'll die a lot, and farm the previous wave, before getting strong enough to clear the next. rinse and repeat.

I have nearly 3000 hours in Idle Spiral. I'm not a newbie in the idle genre, but this game is a hard pass for me. It's almost not even worth buying. Heck, even digseum (which only has like 3 hours worth of gameplay) is a better game, imo.

There's a lot wrong with this idle game, yet it has so much promise.

* You can't pause the game to look over upgrades without losing the wave
* You can't prestige until after wave 50 and nothing tells you that unless you look at steam page comments
* Progress is too slow and all but requires an autoclicker (which is capped)
* You can't tell what abilities are static weapons or are upgrades to current weapons
