… I think I need a new finger and probably a new mouse, too.
But I’ve been clicking my way through this little clicker game. Because the cat mom in me was like cats? Plus, it's one of my favourite genres—which I still don’t understand why I’m addicted to—clicker and idle games? Those two, combined, right here and now; DEAL!
First off, this game is adorable; there’s no way around that. I don’t mind that the art style is slightly simpler. It’s still super cute, nonetheless. And it’s fun that it’s a bit of a collect-a-thon where you can earn new backgrounds, a different hat, or another cat colour and play around with it a bit so you have one you like staring at. Or if you feel like switching it up from time to time.
As for the sound, yeah, the miaowing was cute for five hot seconds, but it got tossed out with all the other sounds reasonably quickly since I genuinely prefer to listen to podcasts, a series on the other screen, etc. Can’t really hold that against me imo. After all, this was me playing, and I should make it as comfy for myself as I wish.
The gameplay is pretty straightforward: you click to get coins, buy upgrades, click more, get more coins! Occasionally, if you have a wolf or mouse run across your screen, you can click and earn yourself a fun little bonus there. It’s that classic clicker vibe, I guess, but…
Lord, my pointy-finger hurts so much while typing. Seriously. And this is kind of where I have my only minor point of critique. It’s a little too much clicking, not enough idle for me.
Not enough to go downright downvote it, but… I wish it had a little more idle.
It's nice to just leave for a bit and come back to some progress. I didn’t really have that feeling here at all since there is just one idle cat, and once it’s maxed out, the revenue isn’t that much. Not even with the prestige coins you use to upgrade your things. At some point, it wasn’t even worth saving up for prestige points and more effortless to spend them on the cosmetic goodies I wanted to grab.
So in the end, it started to feel a little like a drag, yes, and it was a little bleh, you know. Just bleh. A little underwhelming. Perhaps that’s a worthwhile point to consider for the future or when we acquire a King Cat Clicker II. I would also, of course, love to see even more hats, backgrounds, and cat colours as well. Can’t ever have enough of those.
But all in all, it’s still a—in a way—chill, fun and quirky little game for those who are into this genre. Just don’t me like me, don’t be an overly caffeinated binge-playing woodpecker, cause Jesus my finger. Unless you don’t mind the finger exercise, I suppose. Just don’t blame me if your finger hurts too afterwards lol. I would have added a few screenshots, but alas, that feature seems to be turned off or broken, so you’ll have to do without them in this review.
So there’s that. That’s my review for this one.
I would be super grateful if you could consider giving a follow over at the following places for more first looks, reviews, recommendations, etc:
Thank you!
