Inn Trouble is a cozy furniture-placement game where you arrange rooms to satisfy your fairytale guests' preferences while managing the furniture's own stubborn placement quirks. Optimize your layouts through upgrades and experimentation, then relax in an undemanding mode or tackle harder scenarios. It's designed as a short-session time-killer with enough personality to keep you engaged between other activities.
About this game
A small game focused on furniture placement, optimization, and upgrades within a magic inn. Cater to the preferences of your fairytale guests, but beware: even the furniture has its own ideas about where it should go! Unwind in cozy mode or ramp up the difficulty for a real challenge.

It's an interesting concept, and is fun for short play periods here and there. After a few minutes with it, I can feel like it'd be repetitive, at least on the most relaxed difficulty. But it's fun and enjoyable for the type of game it is. It's simple, easy to pick up. I'm very curious how it might work on my steam deck because it's a perfect pick-up and play game when I'm waiting between other things I want to do or otherwise just want to chill with in the evenings or something.
I don't want this to be too negative, but there are a few concerns I have though:
1. My biggest concern is that the mechanic where you can only order one piece of furniture at a time until it's been moved to a room gets in the way if you order something you didn't mean to. I have to either move it somewhere empty or destroy it for what feels like an expensive cost (at least early game). The ability to change what I ordered for free until it's been picked up would be appreciated. (e.g. it cost me 30 of the 58 coins I accumulated to destroy a table when I really wanted a chair. I imagine this is less annoying mid-game, but early game when I only had a few coins made it at least a little annoying).
2. I'd love to see an action queue. If I want to swap a bed in a room and put a new one I ordered in the first room, I have to wait for them to pickup the bed, then I can move the one from the warehouse. It'd be nice to be able to plan the actions ahead of time and let the game play it out for me so I don't have to wait for the actions one-by-one.
3. A nitpick: I'd love to see a little more variation in the characters themselves. I'm not necessarily saying more types are necessary, but I'd like to see other designs. Some different outfit colors, hats, something would go a long way, IMO.
4. Finally, even more of a nitpick: Why does the furniture cart follow the bellhop, instead of having the bell hop push it? They're even pushing the cart in some of the artwork for the game.
All-in-all, fun and not a very expensive risk if it looks interesting. I enjoy it and will definitely play it more.
I've played this developer's previous "furniture"-themed games, and this one is clearly the most polished. You finally get to see how the fairytale characters actually *use* the furniture, which really brings the game to life!
Cons:
- It has a tutorial. Let's be honest, nobody *loves* tutorials.
Pros:
- Thankfully, the tutorial is pretty unobtrusive, and after a few minutes, everything clicks. - I can already tell I'll be coming back to this game a few times. Don't expect massive replayability, but it's definitely worth revisiting. - The game's concept is very original. - Good value of money.
Things to Consider:
- The game offers aesthetic pleasure from upgrading the furniture, but you're not actually *designing* anything. The focus is more on optimization and earning stars, which (as far as I can tell) are awarded for different combinations of furniture and characters.
Overall, for this price, it's an easy recommendation from me. It's a unique and charming experience.
We're thrilled to announce that the Inn, the Landlord, valiant Knights, thirsty Vampires, and even Her Majesty herself are awaiting all fans of upgrading, optimizing, and earning those sweet, sweet coins and stars... only to upgrade and optimize even further! We've poured our hearts into creating a truly unique inn-keeping experience. Let us know what you think and we hope your stay in Inn Trouble is a memorable (and profitable!) one.
We just want to let you know everything is complete. In mere hours, you can delve into the atmosphere of furniture placement, optimization, and enhancement in a fairy-tale inn, striving to attract (and avoid disappointing) the Queen herself! :) We're thrilled.
