You run a skeleton's shop, sending hired adventurers into auto-battles to gather loot you then sell for profit. Build your town and upgrade your operation in this compact clicker-RPG with merchant mechanics that wraps up in roughly six hours. Best suited for players seeking a focused, streamlined idle experience rather than an endless grind.

A very good auto-battle clicker RPG, with some merchant mechanics throw in too. I wouldn't classify this game as an idle-game because it can be finished in under 6hours. I usually can find many issues with a game, but honestly this game is flawless. The only thing the dev could do to make the game 'better' is to add more content/levels/stages/heroes/etc. For $10, it's worth the 6hours you can get from the main campaign, and then after that there's a 'challenge mode' which I personally don't enjoy, but that'll probably add a few more hours if you like that kind of thing.

The game is pretty fun but very short, I found that the BONE mode that comes after the story isn't really much different and so there is nor real fun replayability. I would definitely give this a thumb's up if the price was much lower or if there were much more content to offer for the price.

Good game, fun time, doesn't drag things out like a lot of other idles.

But it uses slopbot AI for some of the assets and names, according to a disclaimer in the discussions that I only saw because I was browsing there. By the time I noticed I had been playing too long for a refund. Can't help but notice that the disclaimer isn't on the steam page instead, where people could see it before they bought.
Can't even say I'd like to see more of the game, because I have no way to verify if those things are the only stuff made with slopbot AI or if there's even more the dev isn't mentioning, despite the apparent clarity of the hidden disclaimer.
Thanks for the four or five hours of entertainment I suppose.

Japanese support and pricing update

Hello, everyone! There are two pieces of news:Japanese support has been added to the game. Credit to DracoGideon for translating the text.I plan to lower the price of the game from $7.99 USD → $6.99 USD on July 10th. I wanted to let everyone know long in advance so that I don't ruffle any feathers. 👀 This timing immediately follows the Steam summer sale, which will have the game at a price even cheaper than $6.99 USD. Regional prices will also be lowered. There will continue to be sales run on the game at regular intervals.I don't have any plans to continue working on Skeleseller (other than maybe adding support for new languages)¹. I've started working on another game which, like Skeleseller, should probably take at least two years to finish. I'll eventually repurpose the Discord server to be a server for all Xtonomous games rather than just for Skeleseller.Feel free to join Discord and share any thoughts/feedback with me, and thanks for playing!-Adam¹I wrote a document about this here if you'd like to read more.

Post-launch improvements (v1.0.2 patch notes)

Hello again, everyone!I've spent some time improving the game. Here are the most recent patch notes:Added launch options on Windows and Linux. Players had reported issues with the Nvidia OpenGL driver, so now you can change to a different rendering engine. There is no universally correct choice, so if one doesn't work for you, please try the other.Fixed a bug where achievements earned during the demo weren't saved to the save file, so they wouldn't be granted upon loading the full game. This is why more players have an achievement for beating the second elite monster than they do for beating the first one. 😅Fewer customers will now desire an item at any given time. It used to be a maximum of 4 in Story Mode; now it's 2. This should result in items selling more quickly, which may make the game slightly shorter, so I'll have to keep an eye on this. The rationale behind this change is that players generally wanted more battle windows to be able to earn different loot.Changed the currency symbol for French and Spanish from an "O" (for "or" and "oro") to a "$" so that players don't think that currency amounts are 10x what they actually are.Added a sheet-music button to the title screen so that players can find this on their own. Note: I only have English strings for this button so far; sorry, everyone. The lever is now highlighted when you first buy the Extractor Training perk. There was already a hand pointing at the lever, but some players thought it was pointing at the extractor itself.Fixed other minor bugs not worth detailing. If you find any other bugs, feel free to post them in the discussion forums or on Discord.Have fun playing!-Adam

Pricing update (-20% or so across the board)

UPDATE (March 26th, 2026): Valve has agreed to fully refund anyone who bought the game at full price! Please see more details here; this is only available for the next month.Hey everyone,Thank you very much for playing Skeleseller and leaving largely positive reviews! Even the negative reviews mostly said they had fun, so I think the biggest, most easily felt change I can make is to lower the price of the game to better meet player expectations. The original price (in USD) was $9.99, which I've lowered to $7.99 (still with a 10% launch discount). Prices across each region typically fell by the same ~20%, but I got specific feedback about Brazil, India, Poland, and Türkiye, so I dropped those prices by an average of 37.5%.If you have any questions about this or think that your region's pricing is still too high, please contact me on Discord. Thanks again!-AdamP.s. I lowered the price a couple of hours before this post and just forgot to write this announcement. 🤦‍♂️
