Manage a virtual hedge fund using real stock market data, placing long and short positions while tracking performance offline. The game strips away typical tycoon busywork in favor of strategic decision-making about which securities to bet on, appealing to players interested in market mechanics without the simulation depth of a full trading platform.

About this game

What players are saying

▼ Not recommended 0 hrs
The game has nothing right now. Just buy or short random stocks. Should be a demo not paid product.

You literally can't do anything in the game. Should be a free demo if its gonna be unplayable.

There were some connection issues during the first couple of days, but it has been working fine since. It does what it promises. I manage a fund of a million bucks, and the rules are pretty well thought out. I don't even need to start the game to follow progress. It's fun to think about what to short, not just what to buy.

It's in early access for a reason, it could use some polish. But it's already interesting.

Hedge Fund Manager is going Free-to-play!

Hedge Fund Manager is going to undergo a significant shift in direction: we’re making the game free. This change will roll out over the coming weeks.Free players will have access to all features of the game, with one exception: short selling. To short stocks, you’ll need the new “Pro Trader” DLC. Everyone who has previously purchased the game will automatically receive the DLC when we transition. The Pro Trader DLC will also work as a kind of supporter pack, since there’s no other monetization in the game.Honestly, this is probably how we should have released the game from the start. It’s much more in line with the game’s philosophy: put everyone on equal footing, and make investing performance verifiable. On the technical side, we’ll switch to the free version while the game is still in Early Access. After the free version has been running for a week or two without major issues, we’ll take the game out of Early Access.More information coming soon.

Lots of Updates!

After a fiasco of a launch, we have worked hard these past weeks to make the game what it should have been on day one. Plenty has happened. Among other things, the back end should now be much more resilient against errors. If you have been active, you have certainly noticed. But here are some of the changes so far:Added an option to settle with leaving investors cash-firstNicer domain address for web linksAdded log messages for investment targetsFixed and implemented some new top lists (more to come)Added buttons to change order sizesAdded clear indicators when buttons are inoperableAdded clear indicator when orders are lockedMore useful information is visible in order creation windowsEnforced clear limits on duplicate or disallowed ordersAllowed some common special characters in fund names (' $)Clearer language in many placesClarified and updated the detailed trading rulesCurrent holdings are now ordered alphabeticallyIncreased the default limit price to +/- 20%Normalized sound effect volumeFixed a clock drift issue on some machinesAnd numerous other polishes, bug fixes, and back-end changesAnd one of the major changes, that old players certainly noticed, is the names. Using fictional names for the securities was an idea as old as the game. We thought it would "gamify" the experience, and that the names would be clear enough not to hinder play. In practice, it was a hassle, and not a good choice. It held back the experience. This became clear very quickly. The option still exists, but from now on, we'll just use the standard names. There is still plenty to be done, and work is in full swing. Now, however, the game is finally starting to feel the way it should have from the beginning. It should offer a smooth management experience. Over the next few weeks, we will make progress on the back end to ensure the smooth operation of complicated market features such as performance fees, dividends, and stock splits. This will be accompanied by front-end polish. Then, we plan ...

Some Trading Misses Lately

As some of you have noticed, we have still experienced some technical difficulties and missed some trading events. The upcoming larger update will make the system much more resilient.Ideally, these errors would never occur, or at most once per year. This has been unacceptable, and we know it.Once the game leaves early access, it must be rock solid. However, we should reach that point much sooner and we will do everything we can to make it happen. While the next update will focus primarily on the user interface and reliability, some new features are also coming soon. The option to pay leaving investors "cash first" is coming in the next update. You can soon write a short, free-form text to your fund that will be visible on the web card and in-game.You will be able to customize the number of top holdings shown on the web card, so you can showcase as much of your fund as you like.
