Sabotage City inverts the city-builder formula by tasking you with demolishing urban structures as an employee of a demolition company, all while uncovering mysteries within supposedly abandoned cities. The core loop combines destruction mechanics with exploration and narrative discovery, supported by strong writing and art direction. Those drawn to puzzle-solving, story-driven experiences, and creative twists on familiar genres will find plenty to engage with here.

I played this game through to the end of the first path, and I have to say that this game is delightful, charming, and the game loop is really fun, but it comes with some shortcomings that, with a few tweaks, I think would bring this game to its full potential.

The good: This game was made with a clear sense of vision from the developer. The gameplay loop is really creative and a lot of fun, and the game's distinct art style makes it feel like a unique experience. It also has a great sense of humor, and I really enjoyed reading the dialogue and descriptions. There are also additional details such as web pages that look like a 1990s-era GeoCities site; little details like these make the game so much more enjoyable to explore. The music is also really solid, and the sound effects are hilarious.

The bad: The dialogue needs proofreading. And without directly spoiling late-game content, the game begins to feel repetitive; it felt as though the gameplay in later levels weren't much different from the earliest ones. I would like if the levels built upon earlier ones in a more satisfying way. It would be good to have a lose condition for levels, as well as an option to skip dialogue once it's been heard before.

But overall, I still love what this game is and the idea behind it. The amount of content (there are three endings to get) and gameplay loop makes it worth the purchase price, and with some updates for the aforementioned issues this game would be a solid recommend from me.
