lost complete interest in this game after finding out you have to grind the entire game again to get all the achievements if you don't pick upgrades in the correct order the first time. game was ok, just becomes really repetitive and slow around the 80% mark
The weakness of most incremental games is how quickly they become repetitive, there's only so long you can watch numbers go up before they lose all their meaning. Snakecremental avoids this by grounding the upgrades in the gameplay of Snake. You can have all the upgrades in the game, but you ultimately still need to be good at Snake.
The upgrades also feel impactful, which is essential for a game like this. Unlocking red health pips and blue armor pips genuinely changes the way you approach the game. Figuring out whether to conserve health and prolong the game or live fast and pick up the rare materials is an interesting decision.
But ultimately, the gameplay is still just Snake with a little extra sauce. I beat the game in 4 hours and even then it felt a bit like it overstayed its welcome. Still, in a world where everything is trying to monopolize your time and money, $4 for 4 hours of fun, mindless gamplay is a pretty great deal.
When you play through this game, if you care about achievements, do not purchase the pass through walls upgrade until after you use the 2nd life. In the same manner, don't buy the 3rd life until you beat the game.
