Warning: Third Party Account
This game requires you to create a third party "Kick" account... there's no valid reason for this in a PC game when SteamWorks is available. This is often done to harvest private data and profile you, with potential sale and transmission of your private data to third parties. The developers will probably argue that you can trust them, but if they were trustworthy they wouldn't demand you create a third party account.
This represents a considerable risk to gamers due to the privacy and security implications of developers that wish to bypass Steam and harvest user data. Remember, sometimes if the product is free, YOU are the product.
Warning: AI Slop
This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"Stream Defense Protocol" is complete garbage... a DLC infested non-game designed for Twitch nobodys to pretend to play a Worms/Scorched Earth ripoff while they hunt for the "Unfollow" button... this crapware doesn't work unless you're a streamer, and you have to
pay cash money for ammo. Alone, that's disgusting enough, but this being hooked into streamer garbage makes it worse.
You'd think that's the bottom, wouldn't you... but no, because the developer was so lazy and yet desperate to publish this as a cash grab, they used disgusting AI slop to make the game. There's a special place in hell for these kinds of things.
As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting.
There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here.
The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise.
Now on to pricing and value for gamers.
This game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this.
In terms of public reception, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it.
Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library?
Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off.
This truly is one of the worst things on Steam. The encrappification of gaming through AI Slop, third party account spyware/data harvesting, and garbage streamer platform tie-ins. This is cancer, and it's metastatic.
