Combo Overload tasks you with grinding through combat runs while expanding a sprawling skill tree to gradually multiply your damage output. Once you unlock the combo mechanic around the two-hour mark, the game shifts into satisfying power scaling, though the early grind can feel tedious. Best suited for players who enjoy short incremental games and don't mind a slow start before reaching that unstoppable force fantasy.

the early game progress is just bad, way to slow and the upgrades do almost nothing. later on (i did the demo and it took me .3 hours of playtime to beat) it gets slightly better but not much. Combo, which is in the name of the game is not unlocked till over 2 hours of playtime in and upgrading the max or even sustaining it seems useless aside from for the combo challenges. game mechanic doesn't feel to fun, just move mouse up and down is literally the only thing and moving side to side requires a EXPENSIVE upgrade that takes a long time to unlock. another problem with early game is 75%+ of the materials just get left behind because you have no magnet distance and beating a level dosent pick up any, just acts like dying. the reward for going up to a new and higher challenge is not worth it unless you still one shot everything and once you dont just restart.
So there is some good and bad here. I'll start by saying that by the end I was actually enjoying the game quite a bit! You definitely get that incremental feeling of being an unstoppable force, the only problem is the journey there. The beginning is rough, really rough. You will need to do countless runs of the exact same thing, meanwhile the upgrades will give you small fractions of a stat each. It is very demotivating, but the upgrade problem does let up as you get further in. Unfortunately the grind does not. I might have gone through the upgrade tree wrong, but by the end of the game I was playing rounds that lasted several minutes only to get enough resources to buy a single upgrade that wouldn't meaningfully impact my run.
The game has good bones, the visuals are great, the music is nice...but perhaps it needed to be tested a bit more. I do think the combo system was interesting though.
I didn't play more than a few minutes before the progression was rebalanced, so i can't speak on how bad it was before. However, the progression feels perfectly fine and well tuned now. Any negative review due to the game being grindy from before July 21st can be disregarded in my opinion.
Overall It's a solid addition to the growing list of short and sweet incremental games and one of nicest to look at in recent memory. 7/10
Hey everyone! After getting lots of feeddback since the game's release, it seems the game progression as a whole was a major problem for lots of players. The problem being that it was too grindy. So this update focuses on patching exactly that. The progression, from beginning to end, now should feel way smoother, and completing the full game should take less hours. The changes made to accomplish that are:Increased base enemy drop amount;Reduced cost of several upgrades;Increased drop scaling from challenges;Buffed some currency upgrades; No longer losing all the c_oin progress when getting damaged, making it easier to generate; And a cool new upgrade: the Discount! Which makes everything cheaper.Besides that, some bug fixes:Bug where you couldn't leave the overload challenge screen when failing or suspending;Overlapping UI on the combo challenges;Possible softlock when not acquiring the recycler earlier on.That's it for this update. Lots of players expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of the game, so I hope I've been able to fix the major causes. The feedback from everyone was instrumental for this update, so thank you all! Further updates are still intended if needed, so any further feedback/bug report is appreciated!
