Well it looks like nobody has reviewed this yet so here goes. Your first impression is probably correct. It's a very simple strategy game. Priced for like a dollar. I bought it 51% off for .49 cents. I think both prices are fair. It doesnt have much depth. The replayability isnt bad because it *is* procedurally generated. I was pleasantly surprised that the map has different 'skins'. That is, my first map was in a medieval fantasy skin, my 2nd was in a japanese type skin, the third was desert themed, and the fourth was like, elves in a forest. That alone probably justifies some replayability. The gameplay was exactly the same on all of them.

Gameplay:
You get a unit, I'll call it your army, that roams around the map. Your job is to defend the villages from bandits while simultaneously upgrading the villages and yourself. It feels like it was inspired by Mount and Blade. There are also 4 'titan' units roaming around. You effectively wont be able to defeat any of them until you've upgraded past the point of the bandits being an issue. The titans are easy to avoid, you can just run away from them. You dont need to defeat them to 'beat' the map so they are really there just to be a nuisance.

There is a capital on the map that never gets attacked by bandits and you can go there to trade resources or upgrade your army's attack power. On the japanese map I got softlocked because I couldnt find the capital, so I could not replenish my stash of 'people' or villagers, so I could not go repair any of the damaged villages. I effectively had one sammurai running around killing bandits but wasnt strong enough to take out any more camps or proceed. I was able to get food and gold from the 2 villages I had secured but I couldnt upgrade any other villages to make new villagers nor could I trade for new ones. RIP that run.

Bugs:
It looks designed so that you use WASD to move around. So you can move onto a village, an interact button pops up and lets you do stuff, then you can use the keys to move away. This is not the same for the 'capital' sites. When you activate those the game pauses. But there is no UI element to close the popup and let you move away... the game just looks stuck. You can hit escape and this will let you move but it doesnt make the captial's UI element go away so if you didnt push the direction buttons you might think the game was just frozen forever.

One of my maps appeared to generate without a capital. Without it I wasnt able to regenerate my supplies properly and had to foreit the map. Lame.

Review:
For a dollar, i think its fine. It has more replayability than I was expecting. At that price point the wierd UI issue with the capital and the soft locked map are easy to overlook.

Its the sort of game where if you just want to think 'very little' and repeat a simple gameplay loop, then you are good to go. If you want depth? Look elsewhere and at a higher price point.
