About this game
Hydra Heli is a short, relaxing incremental game about sinking battleships with an overpowered helicopter. Control a swarm of unstoppable torpedoes, annihilate armadas, collect shards, and utilize the Depot to boost damage, increase firepower, and unlock new regions.
What players are saying
The game just feels like it is missing something around the edges. It is like a lot of moderately good things were stitched together, but the result was not greater than the sum of its parts. Like everything came within 70~80% of being good. It is hard to describe, but the general design just feels a bit dissonant for an incremental, from top to bottom. It is almost like looking at a game that an alien might have made.
For a rather short (although definitely not the shortest) game in the subgenre, it sure did feel like it took longer than it actually did. The pacing was perhaps a bit below average, and there was both a significant amount of grinding, and a significant amount of unpurchased upgrades by the time the game finished. The superfluous upgrades didn't feel quite as bad as they usually do, but that is because many of them were just kind of unneeded or innately worthless in the first place, which is a whole separate issue. By the end of the game I was just letting it idle while I did laundry waiting for the last few missions to complete...
I usually don't say this, but I feel like the game probably isn't worth the 5 dollar pricetag. Pick it up on sale unless the game particularly speaks to you. There are many other games either better worth your time or your money to play first, and this sentiment will only become more relevant over time.
Great target system, smooth gameplay, and surprisingly artwork on the boats and ships.
Easy to pick up, fun to play, and keeps you coming back for more!
