Not quite an alien epic invasion, but definitely a stellar place to hide 100 cats
Thank you Very Very LITTLE Studio for this curator copy.
This is nonetheless an impartial review as if I had bought the game myself.
This one's a soft, pastel-colored trip through space where the mission is the same as usual: find the cats. This time, the series goes for a cozy sci-fi mood rather than a full-on alien invasion, and it works surprisingly well. The art leans into gentle, bright pastels that make the whole map feel calm, cute, and very easy on the eyes. It’s definitely one of the more relaxing entries, even if it’s also one of the shortest.
You’ll clear the base game in about 10 minutes, which is both impressive and a little bittersweet. Previous entries often doubled (sometimes even tripled or quadrupled) that playtime, so seeing only 100 felines here feels like a noticeable diet. The experience itself is smooth and pleasant, though: hints recharge quickly and only highlight a small zone instead of spoiling the answer, zoom works well, progress is saved properly, and the soundtrack fits the laid-back atmosphere perfectly. I also loved how zones color themselves once completed, and the achievements are simple, funny, and charming, with some great descriptions along the way (all this as usual).
The cats are less fused into the background this time, which makes spotting them easier for players who struggled before, and there’s very little friction anywhere. That also means there’s barely any challenge at all though. For some, that’s a feature. For others, it might feel a bit too gentle. The price itself is fine for the market, but with fewer cats in a smaller base map, it lands squarely in that familiar “ten-minute hidden cat snack” category.
I had a genuinely good time, but I can’t help missing the familiar big, packed maps that defines this studio’s charm. A smaller base level makes me a bit nervous about where future entries are headed. I haven’t touched the DLC yet, and I’m very curious to see if it brings back some of that classic Very Very LITTLE Studio abundance. I'll post its own review soonish to share if my hopes were in vain or not!
