Find Kitties: Playground

Cats love to have fun and play and what is even more fun is finding cats who are having fun in [i]100 Hidden Cats: Playground[/i]. A great game for the younger gamers. [h2][u]Settings, Features & Gameplay[/u][/h2] Settings include; Audio controls. If you wish to put your game into windowed mode, put [i]-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080[/i] (or a resolution of your choice) under properties in the games Steam library page under launch options and relaunch the game. Then after relaunch just hit alt+enter for it to resize. [u]Highlights[/u] * Map has a colored background (makes it easier on the eyes) * Some minimal interactions with the map * Hand-drawn, whimsical art style with some light humour * Can pan using WASD or the mouse * Very easy to obtain achievements but sadly generic and all the same * Hints-they give you only 5 but you can use them with no recharge time (you won’t really need them) * Find cats and collectables such as rubber chickens and fish [u]Shortcomings[/u] * Cats are very easy to find, too easy but great for kids to play * Hints only work on hidden cats, not on the fish or rubber chickens [h2][u]Overall Experience[/u][/h2] Overall a more fun one for younger gamers. I find this one a bit more low effort in comparison to their other game [i]Hidden Cats: Thief[/i] which had a lot more map variety arranged in panels and was more challenging. My play-time is a bit exaggerated due to writing my review at the same time as playing. Once you find all the cats there is a cute pop up and the map goes back to the menu (even if you have collectables left to find). This hidden object game shakes things up a little bit by having cats you can find only when mousing over certain objects, X-ray style. It's also unusual in that there are a finite amount of hints, leaving you with only 5 hints total. Personally, this wasn't enough for me to avoid frustration but I was out of luck. Some may like this additional challenge, but personally I found it to be a way to artificially increase the play time. There are also fish and rubber chickens to find in addition to cats. Each cat has its own achievement. Completing the game will take maybe 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you are. The art is pleasing but I found the sound to be loud even when I reduced the volume in the settings. When you find all the cats, you are greeted with a funny image of a cat and a lukewarm "yay" as congratulations. This game doesn't add a whole lot to the genre except for the fixed number of hints and so it might provide challenge for those interested. [h1]THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT THE WEIRD GRAPHICS THAT DRAWS ME IN[/h1] I'm not sure why the title says "100 Hidden Cats" because there are actually 170 Cats as well as 15 Cthulhu Fish and 15 Chickens to find in one large scene. The first game I played by Sons of Welder was their Hidden Cthulhu Fish game, which drew me in with its Lovecraftian-style graphics and I've been hooked on their games ever since! This is just another 10-minute clicking game, but certainly entertaining enough for those who love cats (perhaps even chickens and Cthulhu Fish?) or anyone who can appreciate off-beat weird graphics like myself!
