100 hidden Cats: Kitty House is a cozy, cute hidden object game developed and published by FM Simple Games Studio and Sons of Welder. Basically, there are 100 cats hidden outside and inside a house at night, and you have to find them all before they make a mess. When you find a cat, you click on it with your left mouse button, zoom in and out of the scene using the mouse wheel, and search other areas of the location by right clicking on the screen and dragging it by moving the mouse. Although there's only one scene, many Steam achievements are available. However, achievements won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game".
Having enjoyed the developer's latest release,
100 hidden Cats: Kitty House 2 (please check out my review of it
here), I was happy when my curator was offered a review copy of this game. Even though there isn't much of a story here, the heart of this game is its gameplay. I'll forewarn now that I might possibly compare it to
Kitty House 2 since it's still fresh in my mind. With that said, I enjoyed the fun, albeit somewhat easy, gameplay. I didn't have any trouble finding all those cute, adorable kitties, having fun and being mischievous, and getting all the achievements. In the event that you do have trouble finding one or two kitties, you can refer to this wonderful guide made by a totally awesome person. ^^

The controls and such all worked fine for me. If I have to bring up any complaints, there are a few. First, I wasn't a fan of the right click and dragging the screen mechanics in order to search other areas of the house. Having played
Kitty House 2 and
100 hidden Cats: Pirates, I prefer using the arrow keys on my keyboard to search. To be fair, this game is older, so I'm guessing that the developer might have taken this into account. Also, unlike the other games I mentioned, there's only one scene, which makes the gameplay short. Although in the other games, the bonus scene didn't have Steam achievements, I would still play it because I truly enjoy looking for all those kitties. Also, only full screen mode is available, which is something that I hope the developers will look into for future games, as I'd like to be able to play these games in windowed mode.
In regards to the art, it's in a beautiful hand drawn style. I like how the kitties would be colored in green when you find them although the rest of the scene would remain in black and white. Looking at the scene makes you feel like you're in the countryside at night, with the moon high up in the sky while the kitties are all over the place.

As for the music, only a couple of tracks are present, one when you're in the game's main menu and the other when you're playing the scene. They feel soft, soothing, and relaxing to listen to, with lovely instrumentals making you feel at ease. They almost feel calming to the point where you can fall asleep to these tracks if you want a peaceful night's sleep.
Overall, would I recommend
100 hidden Cats: Kitty House? Even though I personally enjoyed
Kitty House 2 and
Pirates more for the reasons I stated earlier, I think that this game is fun and relaxing. I'd especially recommend it if you just love looking for those kitties and hearing them meow when they're caught. For the asking price, it's quite a bargain, but you can wait for a sale, and it's in a few Steam bundles.
Finally, I want to give a major thank you to FM Simple Games Studio and Sons of Welder for the review copy. It was quite a wonderful surprise, and I'm happy that I got a chance to play and review this game, especially to look for all those sweet kitties. ^^
