Rock Bottom - Dev Update 01

Hello Everyone, Welcome to the first Dev Blog for Rock Bottom, an incremental mining game from Logan Games.I recently released the playable demo for Rock Bottom. The response from players has been fantastic and I am so happy to see people are excited to play Rock Bottom. Thank you! I am now hard at work to build out the world that is Rock Bottom and ensure the game delivers the fun experience that players expect. After reviewing player feedback from the demo, I have a really clear understanding about the features players love, and what additional features they'd like to see included in the full release. I have been adding in a tonne of features and changes so far. Let's quickly review the biomes included in the demo, before I give you a sneak peak of the new biome, Crystal Caverns. Sunken CanopyMost of you know this one well from the demo. It was the first level I designed and worked on. There is still something satisfying about hunting for gold ore among the overgrown vines and flowers. It is a nice, green breather before things get a lot more intense in the next area.Spore-Light CavernsNext up on our look back at the demo levels is Spore-Light Caverns. I wanted this area to feel mystical but a bit dangerous. Instead of searching through vines, you are navigating around neon fungi to track down cobalt ore. It is one of my favourite levels to look at because of how the blue light interacts with the dark stone.Static PeaksStatic Peaks wraps up our look back at the demo. It is a noisy, rainy level where you hunt for iron and gold amidst gravity wells and static discharge. It is definitely one of the more challenging biomes I have designed, and it marks the final area familiar to players before we head into new territory.Welcome to Crystal CavernsThe next stop for players in the Rock Bottom world will be a unique biome. The player is surrounded by bright and colourful crystals and begins their hunt for crystal ore. Each level has a unique tile set that reflects the spec...

Patch Notes: Demo Hotfix 2

Hey,I have just pushed a small update to the Rock Bottom demo with some quality of life improvements based on your feedback.UI Improvements: Level select buttons now use a click to select system which means no more frustrations to select a level. To ensure you can still see which resources are in which levels, I have added a hover tooltip that displays these.SFX Adjustments: Dialogue blip sounds have been rebalanced and pitch shifted to a more muted tone.Jetpack Rework: The jetpack now uses its own fuel gauge instead of draining stamina. A small orange ring appears near your character showing fuel remaining.Other Fixes: New area unlock popups now wait 3 seconds before they can be dismissed, and the demo welcome message has been updated with a note about the accelerated progression, as well as other small quality of life changes.I have gotten a lot of suggestions to change the balance of the game... although I am considering it, I will keep the DEMO balance as is for now, until I am able to figure out impactful ways to restructure the flow of the game. Thank you so much for checking out the demo! Your feedback is vital as we continue to refine the descent.-Zachary :)

Hey miners,We've just pushed a small update to the Rock Bottom demo to address some common technical feedback and ensure a smoother onboarding experience for new players.Default Settings: The game now defaults to 1080p in Windowed Mode on the first launch (previously 4K Fullscreen) to ensure better compatibility across various monitors.Fullscreen Toggle: Fixed a bug where the fullscreen setting would not toggle correctly in the options menu.Tutorial: Fixed an issue where the tutorial would occasionally fail to progress, allowing you to get straight to the mining.Thank you so much for checking out the demo! Your feedback is vital as we continue to refine the descent.-Zachary :)
