3 hrs
Charming little 3 hour game, well worth the price of admission.
It has some issues, but as a first commercial game by 2 developers it's stellar. Don't expect much in the way of strategy, it's a purely "repeat stages to earn currency and buy whatever upgrades you can afford" to win game.
* Some of the upgrade descriptions aren't great - I completed the game and I still have no idea what any of the upgrades around opening the same chest type multiple times actually do.
* The lightning bolt has 5 upgrades for increasing the number of bolts (it starts at 1) but seems to cap at 4 regardless - not sure what the final 2 upgrades are for.
* Some upgrades are gated behind completing certain tiers and it doesn't explain that to you so it looks like a bug until you unlock them.
* The pacing is a little weird. You'll find yourself stuck on stage 11 for a long time because the last health upgrades are gated behind completing it, but completing it without them is pretty tough.
* Some of the upgrades imply percentages above 100% where it doesn't make much sense (for example, the chance to spawn another chest when opening a chest can be upgraded up to 125%)
* There's a missable achievement (retry 10 times after dying) since once you've unlocked all of the upgrades you literally can't die anymore
* It'd be nice to be able to turn off the beams and the tornado to reduce screen clutter since once you unlock and upgrade the lightning bolts a couple times they're pretty much useless anyway
* The beams can overlap which doesn't feel great - feels like you "wasted" a cast
* The tornado paths randomly, including against the edge of the arena, that doesn't feel great either
All of these are minor quibbles though and don't really detract from the experience too much (aside from the upgrades locked behind tier completion - that felt like a bug and like the devs hadn't playtested their game all the way through).
