A first-person automation game set in hell. Suck up demon bodies, feed them into the Grinder, fuel your Purifier, and deploy a swarm of Doombas to build a cleaning operation that runs itself and takes the rot back one zone at a time.
Hell Cleaners HotfixSmall patch with a couple of fixes from playtest feedback.Fixed loot getting stuck mid-suck. Limbs and souls you sucked up while standing right next to them would sometimes just orbit around you and never get collected. They get grabbed properly now, even when they're right on top of you.Tutorial flow fixes. Early steps hand off cleanly now, so the tutorial won't stall or skip the wrong step if you do something ahead of when it asks. Thanks for the reports. Keep them coming.
Hell Cleaners Patch Notes (June 15-20, 2026)Most of our time this week went into the new player experience. We tore down the old intro and rebuilt it, and gave the HUD and UI a solid cleanup pass so your first run feels less like getting thrown in the deep end. Here's what changed.Onboarding / Tutorial ReworkThe whole intro is rebuilt to teach you one thing at a time instead of dumping everything on you at once. You start with just the Suckler. The Tentacle and Goo Gun stay locked until the tutorial actually hands them to you, so you're not fumbling a tool you haven't learned yet. When a new tool unlocks, its icon pops up big on screen before it drops into your weapon wheel. The movement prompt got a lot less annoying. It clears itself a couple seconds after you start moving instead of making you press every key. Each lesson sticks to one idea: moving around, sucking and shooting, popping and depositing bodies, tethering, and cleaning.Arrows now show up right over what you're supposed to be looking at. The body you need to pop, the Doomba that got stuck, the Abomination that just crawled out of one. When the tutorial wants you in the book, the book icon, the right tab, and the exact upgrade all light up so you're never left hunting around.Steps run in order now and won't skip ahead, so you can't accidentally get stranded.HUD and UINew HUD that's easier to read. The HUD stays hidden until you pick up the Suckler. Your first few seconds are quiet, then everything fades in once you're actually armed.New outlines on Doombas, Grinders, bodies, and brute limbs, so you can tell what you can grab, tether, or feed to the Grinder without guessing.Unlocking the Tentacle or Goo Gun now plays a little reveal animation.Cleaned up the upgrade book and the shop cards, with clearer "new" and "buy this" markers.SettingsAdded mouse look settings. You can change sensitivity and invert the Y axis from the settings menu now.Rebuilt the settings menu.Added a creep toggle.AudioAdded Wwise occlu...
Hell Cleaners: Dev UpdateHey everyone. With our Next Fest demo build going live, here's a rundown of what the team has been cleaning up over the past week and a half. New Player TutorialWe built a proper guided tutorial from the ground up and reworked its opening phase so new players get eased into the mess instead of thrown straight at it. Keep Playing After the DemoBeat the demo? You can now hit continue and keep going instead of getting kicked back out. New EnvironmentsA new Cathedral level joined the lineup, complete with broken walls, debris, and fresh angled stair pieces across the interior and outer yard. We also touched up materials, models, and textures throughout, and patched some missing meshes. Enemies and CombatThe Abomination got a big pass: cleaner separation between body, enemy, and Doomba layers, creep immunity, and a smoother Doomba to Abomination pop transition. The Grinder no longer lurches forward the moment it spawns, its tether range was retuned, and we squashed a stubborn run of Grinder and Abomination bugs. New flies are buzzing around too. AudioLots of new sound work landed: acid and liquid effects, goo spray and pop sounds, creep footsteps, and updated Wwise events. We also fixed an annoying main menu ambient sound bug. UI and Quality of LifeAdded a new Level Bar to track your progress. We cleaned up the HUD so there's nothing stray to click, fixed the cursor sticking after pausing or alt-tabbing, and removed the accidental "P" pause shortcut. Thanks for playing the demo and sending feedback. More coming soon.
