Automate your island economy by writing simple Python scripts that control workers, farms, and trading operations across a connected archipelago. The game teaches programming fundamentals through immediate, visible consequences as your code directs NPCs to build, harvest, and trade with neighboring islands at dynamic market prices. Ideal for players curious about coding who want hands-on learning wrapped in a strategy game loop.

Hi, I'm Roman. For almost three years I've been making Kingdom.py, a town builder where nothing gets built with a click. Every hero runs a Python script you write. change_profession(Builder) build(House, 3, 4) build(House, 3, 8) Press Run and the hero walks to the plot and builds, one line at a time, while the editor lights up the line being run. Inspired by three games Three games inspired me more than any others: From The Farmer Was Replaced: you don't control the workers, you program them. Loops, conditions, lists, functions and modules unlock in the research tree like buildings. From RimWorld: townsfolk with traits, moods, friendships and breakdowns. They fall in love, marry, have children, grow old, steal and take bribes. Each person's personality is six small Python functions, and children inherit each one from their mother or their father. From SimCity: an economy of taxes, fields, bakeries, mines and smithies, rats in the granaries, fires, raids, named streets and grand projects that cost a fortune. Real Python libraries and tools The game ships CPython with the real numpy, pandas and matplotlib: the kingdom's history turns into a table and a chart on your desk. requests works too; the requests are carried by pigeons. ps, top, kill and cron in the console. Every program in the kingdom is a process, the crabs' brains included. Built-in git with branches, merges and tests before every commit. Neighbouring islands send pull requests. Six islands trade at live prices, and your trading bot reads the news wire. Your scripts are plain .py files. Edit them in VS Code and the game picks up the change. For people who have never coded 36 chapters start at print() and end in a town where four heroes split the work between their programs. Every chapter has hints and a reference solution; a newcomer needs about eight hours for the story. Dates The free demo comes out in the next few days. The full game is planned for October–December 2026. Add it to your wishlist and Stea...
