Deep Space Tavern is a casual clicker about running a tavern on a desert planet. The only thing I love more than sci-fi is a good tavern sim, so I picked this up without thinking too hard about the "clicker" and "minimalistic management" descriptors. The game itself is... cute. You wait for patrons to strut in, fire drinks at them to earn coins, clean up trash, and slowly earn enough money to decorate and/or purchase helper bots. There's plenty of thematic decor objects, but you can't place items diagonally in your octagon-shaped rooms. While some objects increase customer needs (e.g. "fun"), there's no way to increase or slow the flow of new patrons into your tavern; the only thing you can really do is keep your customers drunk and wait for more to show up. As much as I love supporting indie devs, and as neat as the base idea is, this feels shallow even for an incremental game.
Recommendation
If you enjoy any degree of management or genuine progression, this is not the game for you. BUT if you enjoy idle tap games, don't want a whiff of management or time pressure, and just want to vibe with some polygons in a cantina while firing lasers at customers and trash, then you'll probably have a blast with this title. If you've ever wanted to run the Star Wars Mos Eisley bar, here's your chance! Deep Space Tavern is a really enjoyable bar management / development game that's chilled but also quickly addictive. You manage the titular tavern by shooting drinks to your patrons and building up cash, which you can spend on furnishings and upgrades to gradually lure in more customers. The theme is funny and atmospheric, the customers characterful and lively, especially when you end up serving them a few too many. There's a good choice of furniture and decor to pick from which makes the each run bar build feel unique and personalised. A great game to relax and while away some hours - and a pints - over!

I have played a lot of clicker/management games and really enjoyed my time with this one! Interacting with the scene through the blasters was a fun twist that added to the charm that can be found throughout - from the very good Scottish voice acting, to the patron's names. It's a cosy game with a crisp, stylised look and is very polished overall. It's inexpensive and with a large selection of purchasable items, I definitely feel I have gotten my money's worth. I look forward to playing some more and creating a unique look for each of the rooms. I really hope the dev adds even more fun items in the future :)
