Grove Fisher is a bare-bones idle game where you manage an underground fishing operation, discovering fish varieties and treasures to fund upgrades and skills. The core loop involves clicking occasionally to collect treasures, buying incremental improvements, and resetting through prestige cycles for exponential gains. It's best suited for players seeking minimal engagement and passive number growth, though late-game grinds and lack of narrative may wear thin for those seeking meaningful progression milestones.

Not much happens, idle takes a bit to get going, then is easy to get going every other prestige. Numbers go up, buy more numbers, assign skill numbers, prestige for more numbers. It's very light even for an idle.
My standards for idlers are pretty low: I want the numbers to go up, and I want upgrades that let my numbers go up faster. But this one really did turn into a non-interactive slog toward the end. I think I managed to get 100%, by which I mean earn all of the in-game achievements, but with no end goal or narrative to speak of that's really all there is to it.
There is some vague sense that the game's meant to be stealth horror, what with you genetically modifying fish to have two heads for bonus points and the way the ponds turn alien and creepy-looking when you upgrade them, but as I said, there isn't any plot to really make you feel bad about doing that, so it's left to just vaguely uncomfortable vibes.
I'm happy to announce that I've made a mailing list! If you subscribe, you'll get access to cool behind the scenes stuff, early playtesting, and polls/voting! There are big things to announce soon, and I'll be doing more extensive write-ups on the mailing list. If you don't want to subscribe, you can join my discord, where I'll be posting stuff as well. After you subscribe, the welcome email has a special challenge, which I'm not sure anyone will solve :P SIGN UP
Hi, thanks for the continued support and feedback! There are 4 main changes: Holding down the upgrade button on ponds is faster now, making it more easily noticable. The in-game achievement that was very hard to get has been removed. (Reach lv. 100) Added a new achievement for unlocking the last fish! Added an option to disable the sound effects of ponds, intended for late game usage. -Skye c:
