This game really clicked with me in a way other focus/gamified productivity apps haven't been able to. The gameplay loop is well integrated - focus > earn coins > buy fish > more fish increases your focus income > buy more fish/decorate/expand, and gives a good feeling of progression. It utilizes some common dopamine hooks - the fish acquisition system is technically a gacha, you have a random chance of hatching fish with crazy animation effects and skins - but oriented towards encouraging your own productivity. I've found myself going "Well, I guess I could fold some laundry" when I see I have nearly enough coins to get more fish, or another tank. I find the goals system quite interesting too. You're encouraged to define some goals, and when you set up a focus session, you select which goal it's associated with. The game tracks your hours invested towards these goals, and it's a nice way to keep motivated at a high level. Aesthetically, it's a nice looking game - the fish are semi-realistic and rendered in a painterly style, and there's a rich variety of tank decorations for customizing your spaces. The focus music and ambient noise options are relaxing - although I wish there were more songs on the playlist. In all - an excellent little game for the price, and I've gotten a lot of utility out of studying with it on in the background.
