"Echoes of the Night" is less of a game and more of an advertisement for an album from a failed "musical artist" who calls himself "Barney & Company" which is kinda funny because that's the formal recognised RIAA title for the publications of the Barney and Friends (purple dinosaur fame) kids TV show and their published soundtracks. Anyway the music is really crap and the band failed. This didn't stop them polluting Steam with this non-game, a QTE crapfest of minigames with atrociously bad graphics. You can prevent yourself from needing to listen to the completely crap soundtrack by ripping out the speakers. Which just leaves a crap low poly QTE game that nobody wanted that was intended to advertise an album, not be a video game for gamers. It seems this was abandoned by the devs 1 year ago. It will stay incomplete forever. These unfinished, abandoned game attempts just clog the storefront and make it difficult for players to find honest, fully developed games. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D graphics which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. A peak of 4 concurrent players (according to SteamDB) for a "free" game is a disastrous public reception. Out of 130 million potential players here on Steam, almost nobody was interested. Even though this is "free". That level of rejection speaks a lot for the quality of the game. Given that this free game won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. There's no up front cost here, but I still feel like I got ripped off, and I didn't even spend any money. That's how bad this is.
