i like the general idea - but:
  • the UI is bad and confusing
  • i dislike the pixelated rough-looking outlines of everything
  • you need WAY too many numbers to complete a level - constructing giant fields of the same number doesn't feel clever or rewarding
  • the game gets repepetitive quickly - my brain is urging me drop the game after completing 30% of the achievements
  • later levels also dont get more challenging or harder to complete, just more work and larger constructions
  • you can't really reuse any of your contructions when you complete a level - this means you will delete your entire setup every 10 minutes

i think a massive improvement would be if you could unlock more operators and tools, and also unlock existing stuff earlier.

edit: changing my review to positive because the dev is a good boy

The game is a cool concept and was fun for the first bit once you understand the controls. Then the game is very repetitive and easy with a lot of copy and pasting. The tutorial seems to give players all of the fun that the game has to offer.

Space is the biggest constraint. Don't go into this thinking you get a sandbox to play in. You don't get nearly as much space as even the screenshots advertise. I'd like this a whole lot more if I had more space to use so I could make interesting formulas. Instead, I'm constantly thinking about how to most efficiently make the numbers needed so that MAYBE it won't take hours to get the next minor upgrade.

Play the demo. I imagine you'll get a feel for the entire game that way.

Node Math - Cluster Select Update

Hello everyone!I added a few worth mentioning things from the last update! Some of them you've probably seen already, as I added them successively over these few weeks.A short changelog below :)Cluster SelectFrom now on, you can double-click (LMB) on the node, and all of the connected nodes of the same type will be selected. Along with the node-swap feature (dragging a node from "the node shop" on the selected nodes to swap them), it can be used to reduce the effort needed to maintain your factory without destroying everything over and over on each level up.Instead, you can create a few clusters of nodes, make output connections from them, and after the goal island level up - select whole clusters, swap numbers on them, and connect clusters differently to special islands with powerful embedded nodes on them.(Ofc you can reuse parts of previous/other goals formulas differently, like making a big number shared by all goals and using +/- operators to adapt one to another - what fits you best!) Holding Shift while selecting will add the selected cluster to the selected group; Ctrl - deselect.Showcase: I hope it will make your life easier! I like it :)Endgame rebalance and bug fixingI got feedback about the endgame (last goal islands) and endless mode (unlocked after finishing all goal islands - 15 levels), that the balance was very bad, and the game couldn't handle big values. It is ok now :)I also added a few additional upgrades (like "quiz multiplier rewards freeze"), which are level-locked - you have to level up your goal islands to be able to buy them.Quiz Multiplier rewards are veeery powerful now!Performance UpgradeI changed a few things, so the game is not lagging on the tutorial/hints popups first-time loading, and moving around the main menu/settings (I know it was an issue, especially on some AMD graphics cards). Only game save/load takes some time, but not that long imho.Other ChangesThere were a lot of other changes/bug fixes/improvements, but there are some ...

Node Math - v1.2.0 - Big Performance Improvements!

Hello everyone! I have some news for you :DHow was the first week?Thank you all for your feedback in the first week after release! I had a lot of suggestions, bug reports, and nice conversations with a lot of players on my Discord server and Steam Discussions :)As a dev, I am very happy with how it goes, and I am committed to making the game the best I can! That's why the feedback is very important. Without it, I don't know what is ok and what is wrong with the game. The more I get, the better!I worked after hours this week to address all of the critical issues the game had and add missing QoL features to make the gameplay smoother. You may have seen a few minor updates with such changes. My changelog and to-do list are publicly available on my Discord server if you want to check them out: https://discord.com/invite/sfgr7YCv2zThere are mostly some minor, less important things left for now.Performance UpdateThis weekend, I focused on improving the performance of the game. I got some feedback that, especially on the later stages of the game, when there are a lot of nodes and numbers flying around, slower machines may experience very low FPS. So today, I deployed a much bigger update, v1.2.0, with a big performance boost. I hope it will work better now.I don’t expect too many regression issues, but if you find any new bugs caused by it, please let me know :) Performance updates are tricky as they touch a lot of code, so the regression risk is high. I tested it a lot though :DOne of the visible changes (there were a lot of changes overall, but not all are visible) was to reduce the number of displayed resources (numbers) transported over connections. It depends now on how many resources (numbers) are on the board, so you may not even see this particular change on smaller “farms”. Also, I hid some unnecessary visual details on zoom out (they weren't readable anyway).Other things are under the hood, and they should not be visible directly in the game (only adding more fps...
