This looks and feels like someones first game. Though, if steam is to be believed, it’s not. And while I don’t want to be too harsh on a small developer, I can’t say many positive things about this game either. I certainly can’t recommend it.
This game is very simple. You can click and you can buy auto-clicker upgrades in the shop. That’s it. There are no skills to use. There is no strategy as to what upgrades to prioritize. There are no random pop-up bonuses. There are no mini-games. Nothing. Clicking power cannot be upgraded, so it quickly becomes useless. So all you’re left to do is wait for the auto-clicker to earn currency to buy more auto-clicker upgrades. It’s not a good idler either, since this game auto-pauses if you alt+tab out of it. So you can’t even do other things while you wait. This game wants all of your attention it seems, despite offering little in return.
The game has very little in terms of a narrative. It’s nice that character’s lines are voiced, but they become very repetitive very fast. You get some new lines as you go, but there are not nearly enough of them. The art style is charming enough, I guess. The music is okay, but it also quickly becomes repetitive. The tags like “horror” and “dark” aren’t really earned either in my opinion. The game doesn’t do enough with them anyway. There is no ending, it seems, or any sort of conclusion really. Earning every achievement took me about an hour. I was already pretty bored by this point. Getting every upgrade took another hour. Which turned out to be completely pointless since you don’t get anything for it.
Looking at other players reviews and a “casual” tag makes me think, that, maybe, I’m taking this too seriously. Like it’s a joke that I didn’t get. Well, the waste of my time felt very much real, hence the negative review. And while this is not the worst game that I’ve played, I also know a lot of games that are far better while also being completely free. Clicker games included.
I only bought this game on a whim because of an ad, that looked interesting enough, in Doom Wolf’s video (who, I assume, is the dev). I’m not going to refund the game, so I guess his marketing strategy worked.
