Alright. There isn't specifically an end to BLADE.EXE, as this is really a leaderboard semi-idle sorta bullet heaven game. What does that mean?

BLADE.EXE has the hallmarks of a bullet heaven/survivors game, except you don't control the avatar at all. Instead, your dude just slashes away as hordes of enemies and bosses swarm him. What you do is click on various upgrades and buffs and random rolls that appear on screen, choosing effects from several choices or buffing effects from the bottom row of the screen. You earn cash as you play which can be spent in between rounds to gain permanent buffs as well. And of course, you earn points as you kill in each match, moving you up the leaderboard. And in reality, that is the game in a nutshell.

What this game really reminds me of is the video game embodiment of the Kill the Noise video directed by Mike Diva, which I will link here:

I will say that you do get invested in the cool graphics, peak OST, and just the on-screen chaos in general. Time seems to slow a bit, inasmuch as you could play for ten minutes and not really know if it was ten minutes or thirty minutes, because time kinda freezes for you while you're mixing it up here. Also, the bosses by and large have pretty funny names.

My only complaint is that I was checking out the side screen icons, which are related to multiplayer, which I didn't try. Anyway, when I tried to close the little box for that, it ended my match and sent me to the menu. Which kinda sucked. So, don't do that. And a smaller complaint is that there probably should be a quick little tutorial. The game is easy enough to figure out, but there should still be one.
Do I think you NEED to play this game? No. But do I think it provides a solid time killer when you mostly want to just shut off your brain? Yes. Yes I do.
