Alright. There isn't specifically an end to BLADE.EXE, as this is really a leaderboard semi-idle sorta bullet heaven game. What does that mean?

BLADE.EXE has the hallmarks of a bullet heaven/survivors game, except you don't control the avatar at all. Instead, your dude just slashes away as hordes of enemies and bosses swarm him. What you do is click on various upgrades and buffs and random rolls that appear on screen, choosing effects from several choices or buffing effects from the bottom row of the screen. You earn cash as you play which can be spent in between rounds to gain permanent buffs as well. And of course, you earn points as you kill in each match, moving you up the leaderboard. And in reality, that is the game in a nutshell.

What this game really reminds me of is the video game embodiment of the Kill the Noise video directed by Mike Diva, which I will link here:

I will say that you do get invested in the cool graphics, peak OST, and just the on-screen chaos in general. Time seems to slow a bit, inasmuch as you could play for ten minutes and not really know if it was ten minutes or thirty minutes, because time kinda freezes for you while you're mixing it up here. Also, the bosses by and large have pretty funny names.

My only complaint is that I was checking out the side screen icons, which are related to multiplayer, which I didn't try. Anyway, when I tried to close the little box for that, it ended my match and sent me to the menu. Which kinda sucked. So, don't do that. And a smaller complaint is that there probably should be a quick little tutorial. The game is easy enough to figure out, but there should still be one.

Do I think you NEED to play this game? No. But do I think it provides a solid time killer when you mostly want to just shut off your brain? Yes. Yes I do.

UPDATE:
Now having close to 12 hours in game. Since my last review the Developer has been consistently updating the game and has listened to the players adding luck stat variants, as well as adjusted the difficulty to have longer more rewarding runs, also the update adding a new map as well as upgrading the visuals on each map. This is also within a week! If they add of a reroll system it would be a positive to the game having 3 maximum rerolls a run could potentially help someone that is in need of a specific trait on "level up", especially if its deep in a run. Maybe soon classes or to grind to buy certain weapons maybe from the menu. I don't know but I am hopeful for this project! Good job from the Developer!

After playing a couple hours, the game is pretty chill and at 2.99 sale its worth 3 bucks. Scaling and difficulty needs some adjustment but overall pretty good. A couple PROS is leveling specific traits and trying to develop builds you can feel the difference between each trait. It is also pretty smooth and again is chill to play. A couple CONS I would say it needs some type of luck stat to get better augments or upgrading becomes better, a reroll system for the augments on the level up. Also it would be pretty cool if you could choose the character that you start the round with because characters look cooler than others. Overall thumbs up for me first day launch, it definitely will get as the developer keeps with good updates.

SYSTEM UPDATE

Hello everyone! We're back with another new system. With the new update, you can improve your attack and defense. The attack boost allows your weapon to start with an extra level, while the defense boost increases your maximum health and armor. This allows you to get a faster start in the game. We've also introduced ability usage, which you can also enhance. Abilities hit all mobs and, like weapon upgrades, are triggered by hitting them. Currently, only abilities are automatically applied, but active-use abilities will be added soon. We've changed the design of the cards you receive upon leveling up, making them more compatible with the game. You can now reroll cards that aren't suitable for builds and replace them with ones that are suitable for you. We're continuing with updates, and we have many system improvements and new content on the agenda. Don't forget to challenge the leaderboards with every new content release!Thank you for your support.
