Edit: It's been about a dozen hours; I've adapted the review, although not much has changed.
Pros:
-> If you like clicker/incremental type of games this one is pretty good. It has many systems interacting with one another making it interesting.
-> The tutorial/onboarding is well done, you understand what's expected quite easily and you do not need to read much text to get going.
-> I've had no performance issues, it runs smoothly.
-> The graphics fit the game, the menu/ui easy to navigate.
-> did a few 'end run', which allows to spend points for the next run. So far, it felt rewarding to do so, but the rewards don't feel that balanced.
-> The map expands, and progress isn't rooted in a very small area with only numbers going up, the game feels bigger thanks to those details that the dev didn't need to make. He could've made the same game on a single screen but opted to put the effort of making things properly, which isn't often done for auto-clicker/incremental games.
-> It feels original, and the kingdom theme is well exploited as you work to get your ressources up, your gold, handling population, ships that allow you to unlock trade, envoys from distant kingdoms and whatnot. It's great to see the effort made.
-> The game naturally progresses into different types of content, war is slightly complicated to understand but fits the game well in the way it's been handled. I expected it to actually make the gameplay worse, but it actually made it fun.
Cons:
-> The first 5-10 minutes were too quick. I feel like perhaps they want us feel the 'rush' of numbers going up, but the first 5 minutes of gameplay I made way too much progress way too early, I feel like it could've been slowed down a lot and I would've had more fun progressing. However, I do have to note that progress feels adequate past that, so perhaps it is complicated to balance.
-> Some minor bugs, most of those I've seen are just visual, and they're manageable, nothing game-breaking or gameplay related yet.
-> Despite how well they made the systems, some are a bit hard to understand from a quick glance; I wish the tooltips were clearer and key-information was delivered more directly, especially for systems that work with multiple smaller systems.
-> One of people's fears is how many hours this game realistically lasts, and it's not as much as I had hoped. If you're worried about price-per-hours-of-fun ratio, then this might not be the best acquisition. However, if you don't mind paying more despite the fun not lasting that long, you'll likely enjoy this game.
Anyway, I see this game just dropped, so I believe it's better than I expected, and I'll be finishing it for sure. I'll come back if my opinion changes.
tl;dr : Good game, buy it, you'll like it
Prestige and resets only resets progress to an earlier checkpoint, trivializing a majority of the early game - progress is essentially linear.
90% of the game is flying through upgrades, the last 10% is spent waiting for an arbitrary time gate to allow you to destroy the final castle - even if your army's DPS should out compete the castle's reconstruction, it will not allow you to progress/win/end your misery without waiting for you to generate 75 Dominion.
Late game upgrades are extremely unbalanced and nonsensical - Discovery, the slowest building currency is used to unlock whole swaths of upgrades before you're saving up ridiculous amounts just to unlock 5 of the cheapest military units.
It's just not balanced or rewarding
