Tap To Travel transforms your regular computer use into passive exploration, letting your pixel character journey across a real-world map while you work or play. As you accumulate clicks and keystrokes, you unlock new destinations, gather collectibles, and earn outfit cosmetics for your adventurer. Ideal for players who enjoy idle progression and ambient worldbuilding without demanding active attention.

I have tons of desktop companion games and I can see the appeal of this one but unfortunately the main point of moving around the map is absolutely impossible without a teleport which you might not get for tens of hours into playing. I got excited seeing photo icons on the map thinking I'll get some info about the area by traveling there, but they don't do anything. At least that would give me a reason to move, because how in fresh hell am I supposed to manually tap 7 million times to move accross the globe??? Even getting to another city is going to take me hours, my best bet is to stand still and not waste my time, hoping that I'll get a teleport one of these days and I don't end up in the middle of the ocean. The 500k step consumable didn't help because I didn't have a direction set so it dissapeared without moving me anywhere. And it's not like getting anywhere is particularly important because you can click on the map by accident and remove your previous marker without any warning. This could be somewhat fixed by adding upgrades to your character so he can move MUCH faster in the future.

It would be an awesome companion if there was even a chance for me to get anywhere without having to spend literal years to casually tap several million times. If icons did anything I would much rather have them all around the globe to drop collectibles when I travel there, but the distance per tap would have to be SIGNIFICANTLY increased. I feel like it doesn't have to be another clone of waiting a set time for a drop (that's my personal preference because I hate just waiting without nothing to do in the meantime). For now you can delete the travel part entirely and the experience would actually be better without the frustration of not being able to get anywhere on your own.

Tap To Travel v1.0.11 - The Journey Begins

Hello, travellers! This is my first Steam post, so I wanted to share a little about why I made Tap To Travel.I love maps, travelling, pixel art, and games that don’t demand your full attention. I wanted to combine those things into a small desktop companion that makes everyday computer use a bit more fun.Choose a destination, then carry on with your day. Every key press and mouse click moves your traveller one metre closer. Along the way, you earn coins, open chests, collect new characters and companions, and visit new countries. There’s still plenty I’d like to improve. I want to add more country-themed collectibles, make the world feel more alive with better weather effects, improve performance, and explore trading between players (Steam Inventory). Thanks for checking out Tap To Travel. If you try it, I’d really like to hear what you think and what you’d like to see next.See you on the map! 🌍
