I've been going through a weird phase since Where Winds Meet came out I've been looking for anything Romance era related and I came across Whisper brooks, it's a competent visual novel for sure. The story is simple but effective investigation, mystery, unsettling little discoveries that slowly add up. It's the kind of narrative where you always feel like you're one step behind something you don’t fully understand. The environmental storytelling is the real star old notes, broken structures, strange symbols around the woods it all feeds into the same uneasy feeling. The writing is competent and I enjoyed the seperate stories, check it out its free.

A visual novel game that has two different stories currently and at least one on the way to be released. Whisper Books has an interesting way of combining different cultures, like Aztecs, ancient Chinese and Vikings. The stories were actually pretty interesting, but the way choosing the different routes and doing choices was very weird and kinda made the choice unnecessary to even be there. If there were no choices, the game would have been basically the same. The artworks are beautifully drawn and show great detail in cultural appropriate clothing as well as some changes to suit the story and make it their own. The translation to English was a little lacking and sometimes used words that didn't really fit, and the dialogue between characters felt a little awkward and out of place. Cannot say how the literature is for the original language, but in English there could be some improvements. The voice acting was in Chinese and was actually pretty great, though I turned it off, as it was a little distracting when the speaker was reading the texts fully. If it was just some small voice acting, maybe it would have been better. All in all, Whisper Books is an interesting visual novel game, I do think it's a great game to be played, but if you want good English translation, this game isn't for you. I would also recommend to wait for a sale if you do decide to get this game.
I didn't expect this one to be good, just finished The bee effect and I enjoyed it, interesting story when I started I thought it would be boring like how something about bee etc turn into something totally unexpected, story is not complex but is presented well and as the story progressed it turned into something unexpected as one won't expect the story to change this way which is a positive and also it has audio(voice acting) that adds better experience to an interesting story. It's sort of like a kinetic Visual novel, no choices or multiple endings but still this one is good. Will update review after I finish the second story as well.
