This game nails the core appeal of incremental world‑building: simple components that interlock into surprisingly deep systems. Experimenting with tile synergies and optimizing layouts for income creates a satisfying loop that’s easy to fall into. If you’ve played The Final Earth 2, the developer’s design DNA is unmistakable — approachable mechanics layered with smart progression. Picked it up immediately after seeing the release email, and it’s already proving to be a great decision.
Personally, this is one of the best games I have ever played. I've spent probably a couple hundred hours on the old browser version and the steam demo version.
This game is all about puzzling the best build together in order to make number go up the most. There are, i believe, more than a hundred combinations of tiles that allow for nearly infinite possibilities to improve your build.
You are heavily rewarded with frequent buildchanges which will keep you on your toes for possible improvements. However just taking it slow and making the coolest or most fun build will still provide you with plenty of Cold Hard numbers.
In conclusion, if you like idle games, and if you like kneading your frontal lobe, you will get plenty of dopamine from this one. (:
There's just something fun about building a world out of 2D squares and discovering new combos and setups to get new tiles and more income. If you played The Final Earth 2 by this dev and liked it there's a pretty good chance you'll enjoy this one too. Grabbed it this morning as soon as I saw the email that it had been released and really happy I did.
Ok, now that I'm nearing 200hrs in, the time between unlocks is growing a bit longer, sometimes a day or two vs the few hours or half a day early on. I actually don't mind that at all. The game will keep collecting power for up to 24hrs while closed and I find that in the downtime while doing other things I'll catch myself thinking about some new tile I discovered and what ways I can better plan out my next build to better max bonuses. And occasionally I've discovered a new tile with a combo I thought I'd already tried which made me feel both silly and happy for the unexpected unlock. For the price I think this game is definitely good return on investment and I'm curious to see if I'll be able to discover all the tiles myself or have to resort to checking any guides/discussions by the time I near endgame. Anyway, just wanted to add that extra bit to my review, hopefully it helps anyone who actually takes the time to read it. :D
This patch fixes two bugs: - The game would sometimes crash if you tried to open the Remap Keybinds menu - The Sanctuary Bonus didn't count Mystical and Verdant Oases
Thanks for playing WorldShaper Idle! This update contains the following:You can now rotate/mirror a selection you're moving/copyingYou can now select tile types to build with QWER and 123456789 by default. This is remappable too! There's also shortcuts for opening the tile journal (J), selection tools (S) and your worlds (L)There's a new late game Elven tileSome Elven tiles have been slightly balanced. This mostly means buffs for some of the late game tiles. There are some very minor nerfs too, but nothing that should meaningfully break existing buildsThere are some bugfixes, including to the move function with certain Elven tiles
