I played 12 more hours after the 2.0 and this game still sucks.
I m not sure the intent was for gamers to have fun, but just to keep grinding and gambling.
For example there is an inflation mechanic: the more you buy items (like supplies to go on mission), the more expensive it gets to buy those basic supplies. It s sus already in a singleplayer game, but you can "fight" the inflation by selling loot to the shop.
The problem is that you have to find epic loot you can ditch (epic loot is needed, lower tier loot doesnt decrease the inflation much) to sell it back regularly at the shop. And you have a limited number of "action points" per day. So while you fight the inflation you are not progressing into the game.
There is no benefits to the inflation mechanic for the player.
It just makes the game longer.
The UI didnt change. The more dragons you have the more tedious it is to manage them. Everything needs to be micro-managed.
The level of information didnt change. Still cant see the odds of looting, who you are going to fight, what evolution your dragons have, etc. So it s gambling without knowing the odds.
The dev just added more tier to items and instances. More "content" to grind.
I thought AI would make it easier for devs to put their dream game out there.
I wouldn't thought it would be used to make half-baked money-grabber.
This game is a gatcha game, without any way to skip the grind and without fan-service.
I dont recommend, even for free.
--- More details on mechanics that hinder gameplay
Enemies scale better than your dragons. At the same level of experience, the enemy may have twice your damage and health, or better regen than your damage output, or something else like a huge shield, 75% chance to revive and what not. It s the first game I play where levelling up doesnt make you stronger compared to the rest of the game.
If you dont use all your "action points" for the turn, you lose money.
If you buy anything from the shop, you increase the inflation (items cost more money to buy).
You have chances to drop loot when succeeding a mission. You just dont know how much, for any of the loot. Most missions dont give any items.
Items have a %. If you get an item with 100%, it does its effects in full. At 50% it does half of its effects. So when you get an item, you probably wont have the best version of it. This applies to all loot, even unique quest rewards or boss rewards.
You can reroll those % but you need to buy supplies (which increases the inflation), and the new roll can be below what you had at the start, ofc.
You can heal your dragons without buying items. It avoids more inflation... but it costs 3 times more for the same effect.
Instances have now 3 different difficulties. At the second difficulty, enemies have their stats multiplied by 300%. But there is a level cap so your dragons still need to be on par with their level.
Also a level cap on instances and no simple way to level down your dragons might get your dream-team of dragons unable to enter the instance (because they have too many levels), which can kind of lock you out of specific content.
There are ways to raise your dragons stats without levelling up. But only in very specific conditions: either with an epic item that s difficult to find with very low damage scaling, or during an instance (if you chance upon the right event) with very low survivability scaling. So luck is needed and a lot of time and fails.
A new way to scale is by "resetting" your dragons. It goes back to lvl 1 but keeps its stats. It just requires to reach level 80 and consume a lot of resources. I didnt tried it in my latest 12h, couldnt afford it. But it might actually be the fastest way to increase your dragons stats (now that I think about it).
--- Side note about the story
The "story" is some text that is prompted when you reach specific milestones. A guy tells you that what you did so far was useless, and that you need to reach this arbitrary new milestone. "useless" is a quote from the game, not an emphasis on my side.

An interesting game about dragons with the ability to use many variations of builds on them. Upgrading is done by clearing locations. The game is not loaded with a lot of actions - just manage the amount of resources, invest and upgrading dragons not bad
