Warning: AI Slop

This game and game marketing materials are partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content and vibe coding.

Greed Champions isn't really a proper game, it's just a lazy vibe coded 2D browser/Flash-tier "number incrementer" game where the object of the game is to increase the in-game currency by clicking/doing repetitive "idler" dungeon auto-runs, and sometimes buying things that increase the rate at which your currency/score goes up. It's an incredibly shallow game loop, to the point you might as well just run a program that does "i=i+1; print i" and watch the numbers go up automatically. You'd get the exact same outcome. If this sounds completely mindless, you're not wrong.

This one shapes up to be possibly the worst ripoff of Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms ever made, and despite the Hasbro branding, I still think that was a horrid nasty mobile cash grab. Oh how far has the beloved franchise of Baldur's Gate 3 fallen. Now you look at how bad that was and you can look at this incredibly bad, AI slop generated pixelcrap ripoff with no clear instructions and no motivation to learn the incrementer systems and you can see why we have such a failure on our hands.

Of course this was rushed into cheap nasty game bundles as quick as possible... it's a cash grab.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them.

There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.

The controls can't be customised because the game doesn't really have any interface beyond menus and simple UI controls no different from dialog boxes in Windows Explorer. If you think about it, this barely counts as an "interactive" game. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play fully immersive games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 130 million gamers on Steam and well over 140,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.

Now on to pricing and value for gamers. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 140,000+ games on Steam?

Greed Champions is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.

Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.

First let's take this in the context of the developers failure... with only 4 peak players, this was a game nobody wanted, it was a complete failure. For the very valid reasons I supply in my review!

This is a little disturbing as the developer indicates they started stalking me and feverishly reading through my reviews... either just obsession with me on their part, or desperation to try find something in one of my other reviews that would somehow change the objectively terrible quality of this failed "game". Whatever their motivation, creeping on reviewers like this is not okay.

The "developer" argues that I review a lot of games, therefore this game review isn't valid or truthful. Huh. If I changed all my other reviews to positive, would the graphics and gameplay of this crap game suddenly improve? No. The developer seeks any possible angle to throw shade at me personally to discredit my review. You can see what they are trying to do. If this was the only review I have ever written, would that change any of the properties of this game or alter the facts contained in my review? Of course not. My reviews for other games have no bearing on the dismal quality of this failed product.

The developer admits that they used AI slop for both elements of the game and for the marketing. I already said that. Now that they were caught, have they removed their AI slop from Steam? No. Their ego wants their AI slop to be a problem for everyone. What a disgusting attitude.

The developer then attacks this reviewer personally, because they're so angry that they were forced to face their objective failure. I didn't make this game so awful, I didn't make the game fail, I'm just reporting on what happened. But you can see the developers appalling attitude on display here. I didn't develop this crap or publish it in an arena where actual gamers exist.

Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

Greed Champions is an indie idle RPG that embraces its simplicity to deliver a surprisingly engaging experience. Instead of trying to compete with big productions, the game bets on a more direct and accessible approach—and succeeds precisely because of that.

Its reward and leveling systems are excellent, contributing to the game's premise and guaranteeing many hours of fun.

Overall, Greed Champions is a great example of how an indie game can turn limitations into qualities. Simple, direct, and addictive in just the right way, it delivers exactly what it promises—and it does it very well!
