Stat tracking DLC locked behind a paywall. Separate the stat tracking and the skins for the DLC. We already paid for the game and now useful information requires further investment. I don't think I ever seen this tactic before in an idle game. Absolutely scummy.
Edit:
The developer plans on making the important stat tracking information, like Ether per hour, available in the base game. They will also keep some of the "fun" stats like bullets fired per hour in the DLC. There is no information on when this change will actually make it into the game. The developer seems to be trying to milk a few more purchases from the community before actually doing anything. They also asked the community members on Discord to leave reviews after making the apology post. This created a small wave of positive reviews to drown out the backlash from the community.
I will be keeping my review negative. Overall, this game doesn't have too much to offer. It was alright before the 2.0 update. Five dollars for a short idle game and a fairly easy 100% completion for Steam achievements. The 2.0 update introduced super ascension and I unlocked the first major upgrades that came with it. I later unlocked the final two major upgrades after about 15 hours of playing. Before ascending (resetting progress for the new currency) I was at zone 550 which took about 50 hours. After ascending, and 10 hours of grinding later, I'm near zone 400 and the game play loop is exactly the same. There is no meat to this game and playing doesn't feel rewarding.
The new mechanics for ascending aren't rewarding enough. Pushing to higher zones is a noob trap designed to waste your time. It took me over 10 hours to push my way to zone 370 for a mere 6 of the ascension currency (Valor). You can rush to zone 100 in about 20 minutes to get 1 Valor. So in the 10 hours I spent playing the game trying to push zones, I could have just farmed zone 100 and obtained over 30 Valor. I was even able to bring my run time down to 10 minutes after unlocking the final two ascension upgrades. So I could have obtained way more Valor by just farming.
As for the 2.0 ascension mechanics, the first is a damage source, the second is and RNG buff system, and the third provides passive buffs to makes runs faster. The RNG shard system feels awful. You can spend hours farming for a 20% chance to receive a shard per 100 zones. Even after getting a shard, the stats are random so they will be completely useless most of the time. Then you have you spend dozens of hours leveling up the shard to unlock the random buffs. So progression will come down to RNG. To make this system feel better, each shard should have a specific stat tied to it. Keep the 4 shard limit and as you use the shards they level up. Take out the RNG garbage. Progression should not be tied to LUCK!
It also lacks the idle factor for the entire beginning of the game. Ten hours after ascending, I had just unlocked the idle abilities to upgrade towers, tier the towers up, and purchase tower upgrades. Ten hours to make the game afkable for 30 minutes at a time before it starts to slow down. And that's after having played the game for 50 hours beforehand and having all the achievement upgrades. If you get lucky with a shard, you can unlock the auto upgrader at zone 1. So how idle the game is comes done to RNG.
I've played Clicker Heroes, NGU Idle, Idle Wizard (probably the most complex idle game on the market), Adventure Capitalist, and more. This game simply does not have an enjoyable gameplay loop and the fun per hour is decreasing with each update.
