Stat tracking DLC locked behind a paywall. Separate the stat tracking and the skins for the DLC. We already paid for the game and now useful information requires further investment. I don't think I ever seen this tactic before in an idle game. Absolutely scummy.

Edit:
The developer plans on making the important stat tracking information, like Ether per hour, available in the base game. They will also keep some of the "fun" stats like bullets fired per hour in the DLC. There is no information on when this change will actually make it into the game. The developer seems to be trying to milk a few more purchases from the community before actually doing anything. They also asked the community members on Discord to leave reviews after making the apology post. This created a small wave of positive reviews to drown out the backlash from the community.

I will be keeping my review negative. Overall, this game doesn't have too much to offer. It was alright before the 2.0 update. Five dollars for a short idle game and a fairly easy 100% completion for Steam achievements. The 2.0 update introduced super ascension and I unlocked the first major upgrades that came with it. I later unlocked the final two major upgrades after about 15 hours of playing. Before ascending (resetting progress for the new currency) I was at zone 550 which took about 50 hours. After ascending, and 10 hours of grinding later, I'm near zone 400 and the game play loop is exactly the same. There is no meat to this game and playing doesn't feel rewarding.

The new mechanics for ascending aren't rewarding enough. Pushing to higher zones is a noob trap designed to waste your time. It took me over 10 hours to push my way to zone 370 for a mere 6 of the ascension currency (Valor). You can rush to zone 100 in about 20 minutes to get 1 Valor. So in the 10 hours I spent playing the game trying to push zones, I could have just farmed zone 100 and obtained over 30 Valor. I was even able to bring my run time down to 10 minutes after unlocking the final two ascension upgrades. So I could have obtained way more Valor by just farming.

As for the 2.0 ascension mechanics, the first is a damage source, the second is and RNG buff system, and the third provides passive buffs to makes runs faster. The RNG shard system feels awful. You can spend hours farming for a 20% chance to receive a shard per 100 zones. Even after getting a shard, the stats are random so they will be completely useless most of the time. Then you have you spend dozens of hours leveling up the shard to unlock the random buffs. So progression will come down to RNG. To make this system feel better, each shard should have a specific stat tied to it. Keep the 4 shard limit and as you use the shards they level up. Take out the RNG garbage. Progression should not be tied to LUCK!

It also lacks the idle factor for the entire beginning of the game. Ten hours after ascending, I had just unlocked the idle abilities to upgrade towers, tier the towers up, and purchase tower upgrades. Ten hours to make the game afkable for 30 minutes at a time before it starts to slow down. And that's after having played the game for 50 hours beforehand and having all the achievement upgrades. If you get lucky with a shard, you can unlock the auto upgrader at zone 1. So how idle the game is comes done to RNG.

I've played Clicker Heroes, NGU Idle, Idle Wizard (probably the most complex idle game on the market), Adventure Capitalist, and more. This game simply does not have an enjoyable gameplay loop and the fun per hour is decreasing with each update.

The reviews warned me to stay away but I did not listen. This game is boring, its slow, and it seems effort was put into preventing the use of an auto-clicker, which can normally be used to combat pacing issues. Not to mention the paid DLC which adds statistics to the UI and a damage meter you'd normally expect to see. Why would anyone pay more for standard features, and why would anyone pay to change the UI? The dev is essentially charging for an update that fixes the menu... this is nonsense.

having actually played this for 3 days straight and having tons of experience with dozen other idle games, i can confidently say this game is a 3/10.
the first few hours is interesting as you keep unlocking new things, but then you immediately notice the first issue: automation unlocking is way too late and way too slow.
you will do the 1st prestige layer multiple times and having to manually do the progression yourself, although it's not a lot of things you have to do if you aren't dumb and use your very scarce automation points correctly.
that was until i just reached the 2nd prestige layer at wave 400, which resets ALL of your progress until now other than achievements, yes including your hard-earned automation points.
and no, the 2nd prestige layer is complete ass, barely a power increase compared to starting from zero.
don't waste your time.

Announcing Maktala Lootfest Slime Farming incremental game with tons of content

Hey everyone Got another incremental game for you to check, and the demo just released a few seconds ago :D While working on Awrak, I got exhausted, so to take a breath of fresh air I decided to create a new game in my free time that mixes ideas from both Awrak and Samawa Idle. (Don’t worry about Awrak, it’s still coming soon!)I present to you: Maktala: Slime Lootfest (Demo available now btw)This game takes the best parts of Samawa Idle and Awrak, but adds new systems and content that build on them in a big way. Basic description of the game:It is a game where you kill hordes of slimes and use their loot to become stronger and farm them. I designed it to have a lot of content while avoiding the usual grindy, time-consuming feel. Every so often, you’ll unlock something new that keeps pushing you forward. The trailer (on steam page) shows some of these contents: massive tree, loot&items, rare shiny monsters, skills&upgrades, the archer character, etc. Demo Length-The demo covers about 5–10% of the full game’s content. I think it is enough to give you a good idea if the game is your thing or not.-I expect the demo to take around 30 minutes (I finished it in ~18 minutes, but that’s only because I’ve already played it 20+ times for testing and balancing) I really want to thank every single one of you. You’re the reason I can work on games like this. Your support and feedback during Samawa’s development meant a lot, and I’ll never forget it.As a thank-you gift: when this game is fully released, it will be discounted for everyone who owns Samawa Idle in their library.(also I think you can tell now that I love slimes xD)Wishlisting the game and leaving a review on the demo really helps spread the word. I appreciate you taking the time to check it out!

Announcing Awrak: Samawa Idle Combined with Balatro

Hey @everyone, First off, I just want to say thank you for all the love and support you gave Samawa ❤️. I know it’s been a long while since any updates, and I owe you an apology for going quiet. I didn’t plan to step away for so long, but life got in the way and I needed some time to reset. That time off got me thinking a lot, and I ended up starting something new (Awrak: Rogulike Deckbuilding). It’s not a sequel or anything, but it definitely carries over some of the heart and lessons from Samawa Idle. This new game in short is: Samaw Idle combined with Balatro. If you liked any of them then I promise you will like Awrak. This new project builds on a lot of what I learned from Samawa, and it’s got a fresh vibe that I hope you’ll love just as much. I’m genuinely excited about where this one’s going, and I’d love to have you along for the ride again. Here is the game if you are interested (Your wishlist will extremely help the game): https://store.steampowered.com/app/3691210/Awrak/
