Changelog: Traits are now in 2 columns in the fish card. Fish cards grow on hover so they are easier to read. Fish card text is slightly larger as well. Misc. performance improvements and bug fixes (sorry, I forgot what I put in here...) The eye trait regression has been fixed. Notes: I have chased down some of the crash reports that players sent me, and have concluded that the "game won't start" issues are most likely due to older graphics cards and/or drivers. We use Vulcan, which is a newer technology. I'll push an OpenGL compatibility build to a separate branch soon - that might enable older devices to run the game. You can also try running the game with the following command arguments: "--rendering-driver d3d12" or "--rendering-driver opengl3" The crash reports I received (2 in total) were due to actual issues in the game code, so I was able to fix those I do have a fairly large performance update in the works - it seems to be working, but I want to test it a bit more before pushing a patch. Believe it or not, but having 2000 fish wasn't the problem. The problem was creating and scoring them all. (In case you are curious, yes, I was already batching the fish on the GPU, but I was scoring them one at a time. It turns out, scoring 20 fish per frame is 10X slower than drawing 2000 fish XD. Just goes to show, the profiler is your friend...) The game is out there, and people seem to like it, so I'm finally starting to slow down a bit. I also took an evening to watch YouTube and get nothing done. Normally, that wouldn't be a win, but after weeks of only working, it felt nice to waste a bit of time :) I am working on the first post-launch update (excluding bugfixes), as well as a longer-term roadmap, so I will share those in the coming days.

I have successfully added a full particle and animation overlay to the game rendering logic to make the combat feel much heavier and more satisfying! What was implemented 1. Death Shatter Particles When any piece gets killed, they now physically shatter into dozens of little flying pixel squares. The squares inherit the base color of the piece (white pieces shatter light bits, black pieces shatter into dark bits) and have gravity and friction applied, scattering across the board and fading out dynamically. 2. Screen Shake and Weakness Hits The main canvas now implements a context translation based on a global this.screenShake variable. If a piece hits an enemy and triggers the WEAKNESS multiplier (damage > 1.5x), the following happens: The screen violently shakes in a 10px radius, scaling down. A "WEAKNESS" floating text pops up in bright yellow font. A large burst of bright yellow sparks erupts from the defender. For standard hits without a weakness modifier, smaller sparks matching the attacker's color are emitted. 3. King's Rebirth Aura The White King now visually shows off the player's prestige! Based on the amount of stored rebirths (this.saveData.rebirths), a breathing, pulsing aura gradient is drawn directly underneath the King. Level 1 to 4: Emits a sci-fi, glowing cyan aura. Level 5+ : Upgrades into a massive, fiery crimson aura indicating high tier strength.
Seeing so many people enjoy our little fishing game has been unreal to us! Massive thanks to everyone for the support and for playing the game! Its been genuinely overwhelming, we never imagined the game to grow to this scale. We are a two person team, but we are reading all the feedback and acting on it as fast as we can. Hi all,Wanted to generally chat about the path to the next title update, v0.5. Tentatively releasing on Friday May 15th.This patch will be the Stats Update. I want to capture as many stats as possible, create as many systems to catch as many stats as possible, display them all in an in-game stats hub. I'm starting this work with the v0.4.X patch series but the title update will represent the culmination of this plan.I'm very happy with the gameplay wrinkles added in v0.4 and want them to vibe for a bit and get a feel for what works really well and where I want to push the idle gameplay next. So for now, it's a meta level update. Stats galore for everyone to peruse.This will include an in-game badge system that replicates the Steam Achievements so that even those are all fully houses in-game.The extra nugget this patch will receive as part of the domino effect of making a stats menu, is that the main menu will get some extra passes and polish. Mentally I also already know where I'm going for v0.6 and it will only be a few shorts weeks after the next title update. Expect a significant amount of growth for this project throughout the Spring and into the early Summer.Looking all the way to the end goal here: on the Steam store page I mention Early Access lasting less than a year. That's on pace and still the plan. I'd imagine crossing the 1.0 finish line in the Autumn. But I will support this game with updates and ideas for as long as they pop up even after the main launch.So there's a loose roadmap for the next title update with a planned release date, and some insight to the development at large.Thanks for playing! We added a new feature for Hype Trains which required a new permission to be added to read your channel's Hype Train data.Each of the new trash items comes with their own sound effect. You can now optionally disable these special sound effects in case they're too disruptive for you.For custom item SFX, you can choose any audio file of your liking (.wav, .mp3, .ogg) and theoretically any length. The raccoon will resume wandering around after 15 seconds have passed to prevent queue blocking, but the audio will continue playing. Thank you all again for playing!
