Hotfix: golden form counter no longer goes negative

After the milestone rebalance, players with save files above the new ceiling were seeing a negative count on the "next golden form" tracker. The counter now uses the number of golden forms already collected as its starting index, skipping over any milestones the player's total has already surpassed. Players with pre-patch progress will see a correct positive count pointing to the next reachable milestone.

Full Auto Clock-In and Golden Form Curve Rebalance

Description: 🤖 Auto Clock-In: now also picks the day card automatically The Auto Clock-In skill now handles the full day transition without any player input. The day card popup still appears briefly so you can see what was drawn, then confirms itself automatically. Skill description updated in all 7 languages. ⚖️ Golden forms: late-game curve rebalanced The golden form milestones were scaling too aggressively in the late game, making consecutive golden forms feel too far apart. The curve has been smoothed out so the endgame stays engaging without becoming a grind.

v0.14.0 Patch Notes -💨 Speedup Just Got a Glow-Up

🌠 NEW: Meteor System on the Land HUD Live meteor counter now displayed on the Land Map screen — shows remaining/total meteors for the current land at all times. Updates in real time as meteors are consumed. 🌀 NEW: Speed-Up Radial Blur Brand-new fullscreen post-process effect that triggers when you crank the time scale. Bound to X— instant, smooth, and shareable. 💸 Multiplayer Bidding Soft-Lock — FIXED Squashed a long-standing soft-lock where players could get permanently stuck on the "complete fuel bidding" tooltip across lands in multiplayer. Root cause: stray bidding broadcasts from previous lands during result-screen transitions left stale data on the client. Fix: Stale bidding entries stamped for a different land are now dropped, and the matching "ended" broadcast can recover from the previous-land race condition. 🪐 Planet Map QoL Lands completed by other players now hide automatically from your planet map -no more clicking dead entries. Clicking a bidding land entry now properly deselects, instead of locking your map to it. Land entries no longer become un-interactable when selected - you can change your mind freely. 🏙️ Town Flow Highlight Order Fixed After completing a land, the highlight now correctly steers you to Fuel Bidding first, then Land Bidding. This fixes the "where do I go next?" confusion many players hit between lands. 💰 Economy Rebalance — Cost Increases The economy has been retuned for longer, more meaningful upgrade arcs: Pipe Extraction Upgrades: Level 0: 1,250 → 1,500 Level 1: 2,500 → 3,000 Level 2: 3,750 → 5,000 Level 3: 5,000 → 7,500 Level 4: 6,250 → 10,000 Refinery Vacuum Upgrades: Level 1: 15,000 → 25,000 (+67%) Level 2: 30,000 → 50,000 (+67%) Level 3: 50,000 → 75,000 (+50%) 🚛 Vehicle Buffs — Pickup & Dump Vehicle capacity multipliers all bumped up, so the rebalanced costs above hit harder if you go wide on logistics: Level 2: 1.4× → 1.6× Level 3: 1.6× → 1.8× Level 4: 1.8× → 2.0× Level 5: 2.0× → 2.5× ⚔️ Attack Tuning Silo Lock duration: 2...

224 Drills. One Desktop. Meet the Whole Crew.

Hey drillers! 👋Want to see every single drill skin in Desktop Driller in one shot? Say no more. Desktop Driller isn't just one drill poking holes in your desktop, it's a whole cast of them, each with its own personality, colors and shape. Every collectible you uncover while digging unlocks a unique drill skin. How the skin system works10 shape templates: Classic, Hammer, Spike, Tank, Rocket, Claw, Spiral, Diamond, Mecha, Arrow Colors pulled straight from the collectible: the game reads the item's 16×16 pixel art and maps the dominant shades onto the drill (body, cabin, bit, tracks, accent) Deterministic pairing: a given collectible always produces the same drill. No RNG. No duplicates. Ruby -> deep red Spiral. Obsidian Shard -> dark Spike. Brass Compass -> warm Hammer. You get the idea. The full lineup 224 drills. 11 biomes: Surface, Volcanic, Aquifer, Cavern, Lava Chamber, Deep Ice, Upper / Mid / Lower Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core. Each with 20 collectibles, plus a handful of secrets hidden for the curious. Dig long enough, and they're all yours. Steam Market integration Rarer drills will be tradeable and sellable on the Steam Community Market at launch. Earn them by playing, swap them with other drillers, or just snipe that one specific skin you absolutely need. Haven't wishlisted yet? It really does make a difference — helps the game surface to more players, and you'll get pinged the second it's out. 👉 Wishlist Desktop Driller See you underground. ⛏️

New look, same drill!

If you played the Desktop Driller demo, you probably noticed the UI had a certain... intensity to it. Bright colors, sharp contrasts, everything competing for your attention in a 236×340px (or 1.5x, 2x, etc) window. It worked, technically. But it didn't feel right.A few of you told me exactly that. The feedback from demo players was clear: the game sits on your desktop for hours, it should feel comfortable to look at, not like a neon sign in the corner of your screen. So I redesigned the whole thing.A new paletteI threw out the old colors and built a new palette from scratch. 10 colors total, all with softer, warmer tones. Think less arcade cabinet, more cozy companion. The kind of thing that blends in with your desktop wallpaper instead of fighting it.I wanted something you could glance at all day without it getting on your nerves. The palette covers the whole UI (shop, prestige, collection, skill tree) and it just holds together better now. Less visual noise overall.Light and dark modeThis one was long overdue. You can now switch between a light and a dark theme. If you play during the day with a bright desktop, light mode fits right in. Late night session? Dark mode keeps things easy on the eyes. It's not just an inverted palette, I tuned both modes separately so they each feel right on their own. Same 10 colors, different balance. Why now?Honestly? Because players asked. Some of the most useful demo feedback wasn't about mechanics or progression, it was about how the game looked while sitting on screen for hours. That's the kind of thing you don't notice when you're deep in development, but it matters a lot when the game is meant to be a quiet presence on your desktop. It feels a lot better to me now, but I'm biased.Give the new look a try and tell me what you think. Does it feel better on your desktop? I'm curious to hear. And if you're enjoying the game, a rating or a comment goes a long way. It really helps other people find the project. Same goes for suggestions:...

Better Performance, Smoother Drilling

Hi everyone!I’ve just uploaded a new update for the Desktop Driller Demo on Itch. The main focus of this update is performance.I’ve worked on improving the game so it now runs more smoothly and uses fewer system resources overall. The result should be a noticeably more fluid experience, especially during longer play sessions. This kind of optimization is particularly important for Desktop Driller, since it’s designed to stay with you while you do other things on your PC. The goal is to make it feel lighter, smoother, and more comfortable to keep running. With this update, the demo should now:feel more responsiverun more fluidlyput less strain on your systemIf you already tried the previous version, this is a great time to give it another shot and tell me how it feels on your machine. As always, feedback is hugely appreciated - especially if you notice improvements, unexpected issues, or performance differences compared to the older build. Thanks for playing and supporting the project!

Desktop Driller: Demo now available on Steam

We are pleased to announce that the official demo for Desktop Driller is now available for download. Along with the core gameplay, this version introduces a new feature: Twitch Mode.Twitch Mode IntegrationThis mode allows you to connect the game directly to a Twitch channel. Once connected, the drill is driven entirely by chat activity rather than local inputs.Message Impact: Every chat message translates into a hit. The strength of the hit scales with the length of the message.Community Interaction: The drill can now acknowledge viewers by displaying their names on screen.Integrated Alerts: The game includes native notifications for subscriptions, bits, and raids, removing the need for external overlays during gameplay.Development FocusDesktop Driller was designed as a background application. By adding Twitch integration, we want to provide a collaborative experience where a streamer's community can actively participate in the progression of the game.Future PlansWe are currently monitoring how communities interact with these features. Future updates may include chat-based voting for upgrades and community-driven leaderboards. The demo is available now on our Steam page. If you would like to support the project, please consider adding Desktop Driller to your Wishlist. The Desktop Driller Team

MODS Support Update

Ever played a game and thought, "this is great, but I want to tamper with it immediately"? Maybe you wanted stronger weapons. Maybe meaner enemies. Maybe a ship that should not exist. Maybe you just saw one stat and took it personally.Well, Update 0.9.0.0 introduces mod support, so now you can poke at the game's internals without needing to politely accept the intended experience. A growing list of systems now supports mod integration, including enemies, weapons, loot, quests, ships, POIs, core upgrades, and localization. In other words, the toolbox is open.
