We've made a number of improvements to the Labyrinth based on player feedback. The biggest change is that scrolls will no longer provide buffs in the Labyrinth, and instead, 9 new permanent buff upgrades are available in the Labyrinth Shop. Scrolls were originally designed to be used outside the Labyrinth, but as players started bringing them along, they became all but required for any serious run, adding significant cost to actively manage them. Permanent upgrades are healthier long-term: progress carries forward, there's no need to actively manage scroll usage, and your strength scales with time invested. Players will be slightly weaker until they accumulate enough new upgrades, but this is a one-time transition. To help bridge the gap, existing scrolls can now be decomposed into 5 Labyrinth Tokens each via Alchemy.We've also added a 1000+ total level requirement to enter the Labyrinth for the first time. Looking at our data, only a handful of players below this level have engaged with the Labyrinth with reasonable success, and many newer players were getting confused or frustrated trying it too early. Gating the entry encourages newer players to focus on their core progression first and approach the Labyrinth when they're more prepared for it. Existing characters who have already entered the Labyrinth are unaffected.For high-level players who can reach floor 12 or higher, we've heard feedback that Labyrinth runs take too much total time. The permanent buff upgrades will reduce overall run time by a moderate amount, and we'll continue to monitor this issue to determine if any additional adjustments are needed.In other news, the Steam client's built-in extension manager has been completely redesigned. The new manager behaves much like a browser extension manager: paste a userscript URL to install or update an extension, and most browser-compatible scripts should run unchanged. If you participated last year, you know the drill, but for those who are newer, here's how it works: Players in your chat can type in a new command, "!event", to enter a special area. Once there, they'll collect eggs by pestering chickens, defeating enemies, or finding them on the ground. If the player makes it to the end, they'll turn in all collected eggs into a giant basket. If they turned in 100 eggs, they'll be given a limited-time badge that will stay on their profile!And if they keep playing and collect 100 more? They'll upgrade their badge to look even fancier and shinier, if that's possible in 2-bit artwork. The maximum badge variant is awarded at 1k eggs collected.This event runs from Saturday, April 25th at 12:00 pm EST to Sunday, May 17th at 11:59 pm EST. Just a small update to fix some rare bugs, chances are you never encountered these! Fixed an issue where Frames placed inside of caves would become invisible after a save/load. Fixed an issue where placing a Fortress next to a cave entrance would prevent that cave from being destroyed by Napalm.

The last week or so was supposed to be "just clean up the launch feel a little" and somehow turned into a full per-car upgrade system, a garage hub redesign, and a profiler bloodbath. You know how it goes. Here's what's new. Per-car upgradesEvery car in your garage now has its own upgrade tree. 16 upgrades. Things like Cruise Control (with a toggle, in case you actually want to drive it yourself), Turbocharger, Long-Range Tank, Racing Tires, Pit Lane Pro (refuel without slowing down, finally), Auto-Refuel, Nitrous Kit, and a few more. Costs scale per car, save data is per car, and your old saves are completely untouched. You just open a car and start at level 0 across the board. Actual idle featuresDriveWave was always typing-first, but a few of you (and honestly me too, between coding sessions) wanted it to keep ticking when you step away. The new Idle Core and Fuel/Maintenance branches lean into that. Cruise Control gives you a throttle floor that scales up to 65% with no input, so the car keeps rolling on its own. Idle RPM raises the minimum speed the car coasts at. Auto-Refuel handles the tank for you. Pit Lane Pro lets you refuel without even slowing down. Stack a few of these on a fuel-efficient car with Long-Range Tank and ECU Remap, and you can leave it running in the corner of your screen earning credits while you do something else. Then come back, swap to a faster car, and try to beat your own passive run with active typing. It's still your call which mode you play in, the game just respects both now. The garage got a hubThe wheel customization screen is now a proper customization hub with two subpanels, Wheels and Upgrades. Tab in, tweak, tab back. Small stuff once again: - Repositioned VPS to be behind the Lab Reboot Panel Popup - Upon Quantum Leaping, Brain Booster and Lab Assistant levels don't reset. ^ I wasn't sure if that was an intentional game mechanic I wanted, but after some opinions I changed them. Now the math is 10 + your current prestige points in the stats panel (not spendable prestige points).
