Statement and Solutions Regarding Recent Frequent Timeout Issues

Dear Players,Recently, some of you have been experiencing frequent reply timeouts in the game. We sincerely apologize for the frustrating experience this has caused. After a period of thorough investigation and data analysis, we want to be fully transparent with you about our findings and the solutions we are implementing.Why are timeouts happening so frequently?Based on our investigation, this is mainly caused by three factors:Upstream service fluctuations: Recently, our upstream model provider, Google Gemini, experienced server outages on two separate occasions. This caused widespread timeouts for many players within a short timeframe.Stricter content moderation (increased false positives): Google Gemini has recently been adjusting its safety policies, making its moderation filters much stricter. Some seemingly ordinary words might now unexpectedly trigger these filters, resulting in extended timeouts for some players. Please note that moderation in "Think Mode"is exceptionally strict.Triggering sensitive content filters: Repeatedly attempting to discuss unsafe or sensitive topics (such as NSFW/R18 or political content) will quickly trigger the AI's content blocking mechanisms, leading to frequent temporary bans.How to identify the cause and temporary workaroundsYou can easily figure out which issue you are facing based on how quickly the timeout occurs:Timeout after a long wait ➡️ This is most likely genuine network congestion. In this case, simply click "Retry".Instant timeout after sending ➡️ This usually means you have triggered Google Gemini's content moderation filter, or their servers are currently down. At this point, please do not spam the "Retry" button, as sending the same input will repeatedly trigger the filter. Hello everyone,let's do our first 'proper' update in the post-1.0 world. In the last few days and weeks I have been struggling with various annoying illnesses (which is why this update also comes late) so sadly this was one of the weaker months so far. But nevertheless some progress was made - and like I promised I managed to put together enough to show something from the new game mode. So here we go.More Patching of 1.0Before I plunge into the details of the new Game mode (now officially renamed Adventure mode), let me do a brief situational report on 1.0.BalancingI have been monitoring the situation after the last balancing patch and while it still is not optimal, the ratio of players struggling with early game challenges seems to have dropped to a fraction. The major difference was in seen in Nemeses and hostile civilizations but also with various era bosses or new shielded enemies.I do still have another patch planned to address war risk calculation and other things but due to limited time capacity I chose to prioritize Adventure mode (at least until the 'big ideas' are put to code)Tutorials & User ExperienceMeanwhile I am also working on a new update for 'early game User Experience' which will be partly based on the existing objective system. The old tutorial UI will receive an update, but I need also to experiment with this new guidance feature within the new Game Mode (where it will have slightly more demanding requirements). I do not yet have a concrete plan for the upcoming patch but sometimes during next two weeks would be nice.The Endless Adventure ModeLet's take a little dive into the new game mode - note that this game mode will be available both as a new save as well as continuation of the game once you finish the old 'Campaign'.In the Adventure mode you will be alternating between two world types: World of Order (single permanent world) and Worlds of Chaos (randomized with limited lifetime). It feels similar to when you are on the last little bit of jigsaw puzzle: you've lined up most of the other pieces and then this sort of this cascade effect occurs. Every piece fills in quicker than the last. That's what orb has been feeling like to me.And you can see above I went a little off the rails! I moved off of rituals to work on the New Game+ section because I was struck with how I wanted to handle the new prestige upgrades.I've was brainstorming for a long time how I wanted to handle them, and I was always running into one small issue. "In a game about creating personalized builds, how do I fit prestige upgrades into that in a meaningful choice-based way?" If prestige upgrades simply upgraded each of your disciplines, wouldn't the player just simply choose the one that fits their current build? If you are a in a Wizardry focused build, wouldn't the player just choose the prestige upgrades that boosts Wizardry?I want there to be meaningful choices in which prestige upgrades you choose to invest in.And that's when this idea came to me: "Prestige upgrades will be drafted in a similar way to how Spells, Glyphs, Artifacts, etc. are drafted." And that got me so excited. Feels like I found the missing puzzle piece and all the other pieces clicked into place.So New Game+ works like this:- You earn Time Advancements for how far you get into each run (calculated by the number of attributes you've purchased)- You are given a set of random challenges you can choose to complete on your next run.
