Performance Debugger

I know many players have been experiencing inexplicable lag, slowdown, performance issues, etc while playing Alnico. Despite my best efforts, the issue has persisted since the game released.In an attempt to weed out the issue, I have made a debugging tool that you can run in your game to help try and determine what is causing the lag.Accessing the Debug BranchIn order to access the debugger, you will need to opt in to the debug branch of the game. To do this, right click your game in the Steam Library, and select "Properties". Next, navigate to the "Betas" tab and enter the access code "shrimpisbugs" in the text box and press the "Check Code" button.Then you will be prompted to confirm, which you should confirm, and that's it! You should now be in the Debug branch.Running the DebuggerFirst, launch the game and load into a save file as normal.Once you've loaded into your save, make sure your window is maximized (so it fill the entire screen) and press the "F7" key while tabbed in to the game with your mouse towards the center of the screen.The debugger will automatically start measureing your FPS under different settings. Please do not touch or do anything while this is running!After about 1 minute, the debugger will conclude, close the game, and open a web browser page with a google form for you to fill out. Most of the sections will already be pre-filled with your test results, all you need to do at this point is fill in your system specs (if you know them) and submit the form.The debugger shouldn't damage your save in any way, but feel free to run it in a fresh save just in-case.Edit: New Launcher OptionsI just set up 2 new launcher options for the debugger branch: YYC and VM. Please try the debugger using both, you may find one has much better results than the other!That's it!Hopefully this will yield some results. Optimizing Ending Cutscenes

Made some adjustments to one of the ending scenes to hopefully reduce lag / improve performance. Unfortunately this might be the limit to what we can do because the version of Godot we have does not feature the ability to bake lights in Compatibility mode (even though Compatibility mode's purpose is to accommodate lower-end specs). While lights & shadows are the most likely culprit for the drop in framerate, we would have to upgrade to the latest version which would introduce additional bugs.

The resource acquisition system has been simplified

Previously, resources first piled up in the dungeon and had to be carried by porters before they could be used, which caused a lot of stress for players. 💦 We wanted to give the feeling that not only adventurers but also villagers were working hard, but the unintuitive structure and limited transport capacity couldn’t keep up with the game’s resource gains. This led to feedback and many negative reviews. 😭 Now, porters will still appear in the game for visual purposes, but dungeon resources can be used immediately even if the porters do not carry them. All upgrades related to porters will no longer appear in the game. Along with this, a small change was made to the tutorial, and instead of increasing porter numbers via the Resource Depot’s Operating Budget, a new stat was added to help grant higher-tier options on gear obtained from dungeons. (Content to replace the porters in the Resource Depot may be added in the future. 💦)All resources used on porter-related upgrades have been refunded. However, because there is a maximum resource capacity, immediately refunding would cause any excess over the cap to be lost. To avoid this, the refunded resources have been placed into a newly created Bank, where players can withdraw them when needed.The Bank can be found on the right side of the settlement, and all resources that were previously stacked in the dungeon have also been transferred there. Additionally, when upgrading the Bank’s interest rate, a very small amount of interest will accrue every hour of in-game time based on the amount stored.Another feature of the Bank is secure resource storage. Even if you are defeated by bandits, the resources stored in the Bank will not be taken.One additional change comes with the immediate resource acquisition system. Previously, resources accumulated in the dungeon, and if the player’s capacity was full, they were transferred only when space opened up. Game Update - V1.4.2. Mouse Movement, UI and QoL Updates

Hey everyone! This update introduces a few new addition to the game. This includes the ability to move with the mouse (using right-click), a revamped skills UI section where you can choose what skills to follow, and construction xp to recycling. It also fixes a nasty bug with not being granted your items back on cancelled unfinished recipes.Mouse MovementBy default, this new option is turned off. If enabled, you can click or hold the right-click mouse button to move left or right. A lot of people have asked for this and it is long overdue. Better late than never :DSkills UII always felt that the massive list of skills in the bottom right was quite overwhelming and quickly become too much when more skills were added. I have revamped the UI to show more information without the need to hover over it, as well as a visual progress bar for your experience.By default, the skills update to the location you are in. By going into the new Skills menu using the new icon in the top right corner, you can view all skills and track specific skills.Tracking a skill makes it so that you always see the level and xp for that specific skill.You can also turn off "Show Current World Skills" in the options menu to stop showing the UI for the skills in the are you are in. If no skills are tracked and this option is off, no UI is presented for skills. A nice addition for those who want a more clean UI view.RecyclingBy request, I have made it so that recycling now grants a little construction xp. It is not a massive amount but should help you gain levels slightly faster if you have a lot of junk to recycle!The xp granted is based on the sell price of the item multiplied by the amount given multiplied by 4.RecipesIf you ever found yourself making an item and then deciding that you did not actually want it before it was finished being made, you would have noticed that if you cancelled it, you would have lost the items for the recipe.
